Over the weekend, Teijo and 74 other women participated in the Houston pageant, with Aarienna Ware ultimately crowned the winner June 22. However, Teijo stood out throughout the competition, making history as the oldest contestant to ever compete in Miss Texas USA, the organization confirmed to NBC News.

About a month before her historic day, Teijo gushed about the pageant and explained why she signed up in an Instagram post.

“I am delighted to be a part of this incredible new experience as a contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant,” she said. “In doing so, I hope to inspire women to strive to be their best physical and mental self and believe there is beauty at any age.”

Leading up to the competition, she shared information about the different sponsors she received and the growing support from fans.

On June 16, she wrote, “Thank you to all my sponsors-your support has meant so much to me. All of your generous donations have made my participation in the Miss Texas USA possible.”

She added, “I can’t wait to show we all have a new stage of opportunity, strength, and beauty!”

Teijo was eligible to compete in the pageant following a recent rule change that removed age limits, NBC News confirmed.

In another rule change, increasing the competitions inclusivity, the Miss Texas USA website reveals that since 2023 “women who are or have been married, as well as women who are pregnant or have children” have been able to participate, as well.

This year’s two-day event began June 21 at the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel. Teijo, representing Paso Del Norte, shared a photo of her posing on a red carpet after arriving in H-Town.

The contestants were judged in three categories: personal interview, swimsuit and evening gown. Ware, who represented Dallas, was crowned Miss Texas USA 2024.

The pageant’s Instagram page uploaded a video June 22 from the moment Ware was awarded the coveted title. She strutted across the stage while holding a bouquet of flowers to celebrate her win.

She will now prepare for the Miss USA competition, which will air live on The CW on Aug. 4.

The upcoming pageant comes after months of controversy surrounding the organization. In May, former Miss USA 2023 winner Noelia Voigt announced on Instagram that she was resigning to prioritize her mental health. A few days later, Miss USA Teen 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava and former Miss Colorado USA 2023 Arianna Lemus revealed they also decided to renounce their titles.

Lemus said her decision was an act of “solidarity” with Voigt and Srivastava. “Silencing women is not the definition of pageantry,” she said in the caption on her post.

In response to the resignations, the Miss USA organization, which is owned by Miss Universe Organization, issued statements on social media

“We respect and support Noelia’s decision to step down from her duties. The well-being of our titleholders is a top priority, and we understand her need to prioritize herself at this time,” the Miss USA organization said, in part, thanking Voigt for her “service.”

similar statement was posted on the Miss Teen USA Instagram account to address Srivastava’s departure.

The organization did not comment on Lemus’ resignation.

Robert Pattinson speaks about fatherhood months after welcoming baby https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/robert-pattinson-speaks-about-fatherhood-months-after-welcoming-baby/5533288/ 5533288 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2158581935.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Robert Pattinson is one smitten girl dad.

The “Twilight” alum has spoken out for the first time about becoming a father following the birth of his and fiancée Suki Waterhouse‘s first child, a daughter, earlier this year.

Speaking at the Dior Homme Menswear spring/summer 2025 show in Paris June 21, Pattinson said that having a baby “makes you feel very old and very young,” as seen in a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The actor, a spokesmodel for the fashion brand, went on to gush about his and Waterhouse’s baby girl.

“I’m amazed by how quick their personality comes, at just 3 months” Pattinson said, “I can kinda see who she is already. It’s great.”

Waterhouse, who got engaged to Pattinson late last year, shared a photo of the couple’s baby for the first time in April. In the pic, the “Daisy Jones & The Six” actress holds their little girl, without showing her face. The 32-year-old captioned the Instagram post, “Welcome to the world angel.”

Stars & Their Mini-Me Kids

Later that month, Waterhouse confirmed they had welcomed a daughter. “I don’t know if some of you know, but I had some big life changes happen recently, some pretty big events have been going down,” the “Good Looking” singer said while performing at the 2024 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. “I love amazing ladies and I’ve been very lucky to have my own little amazing lady and meet the love of my life.”

Taylor Swift brings Travis Kelce on stage in London for the first time at an Eras Tour show https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/taylor-swift-brings-travis-kelce-on-stage-in-london-for-the-first-time-at-an-eras-tour-show/5532842/ 5532842 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2153869284.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 If anyone thought singing “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs” was as public as Taylor Swift was going to go with her all-star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, think again.

On Sunday night, at the fourth of eight London Eras Tour shows, Kelce graced the famed diamond walkway at Wembley Stadium in his first-ever on-stage appearance. He performed alongside Swift during the intro for “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart,” in the newly added “Tortured Poets” era of the show.

As Swift transitions into the last song of the era, she typically acts out a short skit with two of her dancers, after she appears to “drop dead” during the penultimate song in the set, “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived.”

One of the dancers carries her to a heart-shaped couch, and they then appear to revive a lifeless Swift, changing her costume from a white gown to a two-piece sequin set and applying her makeup to get her ready for the rest of the show so she can, well, do it with a broken heart.

Kelce proved to be a fearless lover on Sunday, joining the trio on stage in full costume, showing off his acting chops as if he were auditioning to be a mainstay for the remainder of tour.

Videos posted to social media of the moment showed Kelce first carrying Swift to the couch, then brushing her face with a makeup brush once she was up again. He showed off some dance moves, too, all with a big, goofy smile plastered to his face.

The track, an upbeat pop banger included on Swift’s latest album, appears to be about the Eras Tour itself, and how Swift has been able to put on one of the biggest and most successful concert runs of all time amid a breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn last year, shortly after the tour began.

It’s already been a big Eras weekend for Kelce, who has been to some of the London shows. Swift posted a selfie on Instagram featuring Kelce alongside Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who attended the Friday night show.

Kelce and Swift have been linked for nearly a year now, as rumors swirled last summer about a potential relationship after Kelce boldly declared on his podcast, “New Heights,” that he tried (and failed) to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his number on it at one of her Kansas City shows.

They went public with their relationship in September when Swift attended a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears and they have been caught supporting each other and their very public careers ever since.

Elon Musk is now a father of 12.

The Tesla CEO, the richest man in the world, and Shivon Zilis, director of special projects at his company Neuralink, have privately welcomed their third baby together.

Musk, 52, confirmed the news June 23, two days after Bloomberg Businessweek magazine cited people familiar with the matter as saying the child was born earlier this year.

“All our friends and family know,” the SpaceX founder told Page Six. “Failure to issue a press release, which would be bizarre, does not mean ‘secret.'”

Musk did not reveal the name or the sex of the baby. The chairman of X — previously known as Twitter — and Silis, 38, are also parents of twins — son Strider and daughter Azure, 2, who were conceived via IVF.

“He really wants smart people to have kids, so he encouraged me to,” Zilis is quoted as saying in Walter Isaacson’s 2003 biography Elon Musk. “If the choice is between an anonymous sperm donor or doing it with the person you admire most in the world, for me that was a pretty f–king easy decision.”

She added, “I can’t possibly think of genes I would prefer for my children.”

Musk also shares three kids — X Æ A-Xii, 4, Exa Dark Sideræl, 2, and Techno Mechanicus, whose birth was confirmed in 2023 — with ex Grimes, 36.

The tech billionaire also fathered six children with ex-wife Justine Wilson Musk, 51.

In April, Musk jokingly reflected on his parenting journey. “Whoa,” he wrote on X, “I just realized that raising a kid is basically 18 years of prompt engineering.”

Jones was celebrating his birthday the night of his fatal shooting, according to footage he posted on his Instagram story. The 26-year-old rapper, who had 1 million followers on the platform, shared a video advertising a pool party Saturday evening. He told his followers to direct-message him for the address.

Later that night, he posted that police had “shut us down and kicked us out” of their Airbnb.

Willie Nelson's team gives new health update after canceling his upcoming concert appearances https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/willie-nelsons-team-gives-new-health-update-after-canceling-his-upcoming-concert-appearances/5531323/ 5531323 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2019/09/GettyImages-664930196_master.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Willie Nelson missed the first night of the “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” due to an illness.

The “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” kicked off at the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in Alpharetta, Georgia on June 21. Hours before showtime, the 91-year-old announced that he was unable to perform via a statement on social media

“We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well and, per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days,” the statement read. “He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

In an email statement to TODAY.com, a representative for Nelson shared a new update on the singer’s health.

“Willie will be fine. I live in Los Angeles and will fly next week to see the performances on the east coast. I can’t wait,” the statement read.

In Nelson’s absence, his son, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band, will perform a “special set” that included some of Nelson’s classic tunes and other songs, as per the statement shared on social media.

Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, and Celisse were expected to perform their sets as scheduled for the first night of the tour.

While Nelson was ordered to rest for four days, he did not announce the specific date he would return to the stage.

The tour continues on June 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 23 in Raleigh, North Carolina and resumes after a short break on June 26 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The 2024 “Outlaw Music Festival Tour” was announced on social media back in February, with Nelson sharing a post on Instagram at the time that celebrating “an incredible lineup of legendary artists.”

“This year’s Outlaw Music Festival Tour promises to be the biggest and best yet with this lineup of legendary artists,” Nelson shared in a statement on the tour’s website. “I am thrilled to get back on the road again with my family and friends playing the music we love for the fans we love.”

The Outlaw Music Festival initially debuted in 2016 in Scranton Pennsylvania and included acts such as Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, Eric Church, Sheryl Crow, and more.

Nelson isn’t the only legendary artist to miss out on performances due to health issues.

At the end of May, Bruce Springsteen postponed several concerts in Europe after he was ordered by doctors to “not perform for the next ten days.” In September 2023, the “Born to Run” singer also postponed the remaining 2023 concert dates as he recovered from peptic ulcer disease.

In August 2019, Nelson nearly canceled his “On the Road Again” tour due to illness. After announcing on Aug. 7, 2019 that he had to cancel his tour due to a “breathing problem” he needed to get addressed by doctors, an update was shared the following day that he was “resting and getting better” and the tour would resume on Sept. 6.

Prince William was dancing like nobody was watching at Taylor Swift‘s London concert.

That is, if “nobody” was the some 90,000 fellow fans at London’s Wembley Arena. While watching the singer’s “Eras” tour show from a VIP box with kids Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, June 21, the Prince of Wales danced to “Shake It Off” and a fan’s video of him showcasing his moves has gone viral.

Prince William, who was celebrating his 42nd birthday, and the children got to meet Swift in person as well. He and the “Blank Space” singer shared photos of themselves taking selfies backstage, with the Grammy winner including her boyfriend Travis Kelce in her pic, making their relationship Instagram official less than a year after they began dating.

“Happy Bday M8!” she captioned her post. “London shows are off to a splendid start.”

The Prince, who famously performed with Swift and Jon Bon Jovi at an event in Kensington Palace in 2013, captioned his pic, shared on his and wife Kate Middleton‘s Instagram page, “Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour.”

The Royal Family outing comes less than a week after the Princess of Wales joined her husband and kids, including youngest son Prince Louis, 6, at the annual Trooping the Colour parade, a celebration of King Charles III‘s birthday. It marked her first in-person public appearance since last Christmas and took place almost two months after she revealed her cancer diagnosis. She is still undergoing treatments.

On June 14, she shared an update on her health battle, saying on Instagram she hoped to “join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

The princess said she was undergoing chemotherapy and was “making good progress,” adding that her “treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months.”

Prince William, the couple’s eldest kids and Travis were not the only celebs spotted at Taylor’s London concert. Also seen at the show: the athlete’s brother Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie Kelce, Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan, Queer Eye alum Jonathan Van Ness, Leslie Mann and Cara Delevigne.

On Saturday, June 22, the official Instagram account of the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photograph of Swift taking a selfie with Prince William and his two oldest kids, Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, backstage at her concert.

In the snap, everyone smiled for the picture, including Charlotte, who looked elated to see the “So High School” singer.

“Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour,” the caption read.

On her account, Swift also shared a photo of herself meeting the royal family, and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was also seen in the pic.

In the caption, she referenced Prince William’s 42nd birthday on June 21st and said, “Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝.”

William and his kiddos watched Swift’s concert at Wembley Stadium in London.

In a viral video that’s been circulating on X, William was reportedly seen dancing along to Swift’s song “Shake It Off” with his daughter in the audience.

William shares George, Charlotte, and his youngest son, Prince Louis, 6, with his wife, Catherine, the Princess of Wales.

Aside from her appearance at Trooping the Colour on June 15, the former Kate Middleton has not made any public appearances since she revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

Before Trooping the Colour, her last public engagement was in 2023 at her family’s annual Christmas church outing in December.

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” she said in a statement on June 14. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

That’s right, 23-time gold medal-winning swimmer Michael Phelps is returning to NBCUniversal this summer and heading to Paris to work both daytime and primetime coverage at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Phelps, a 28-time Olympic medalist, is the most decorated athlete in the event’s history and previously offered insight for NBC during its coverage of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He will be providing swimming analysis live from Paris’ La Défense Arena once the competition kicks off after the Opening Ceremony on July 26.

‘Hot Ones' host Sean Evans stunned after Heidi Klum takes shirt off to cool down from spicy wings https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/hot-ones-heidi-klum-takes-shirt-off/5529843/ 5529843 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/image-4-8.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all Heidi Klum tried to remain cool, calm and collected while eating spicy wings on “Hot Ones,” but she soon fell victim to a hot sauce called Da’ Bomb.

At the beginning of the episode, Klum told host Sean Evans that she is not a fan of spicy food.

“Having four kids, even if I would put pepper on the food, they would go, ‘Oh, mom, that’s a little hot,’” she said. “So, I’ve been always cooking and people who have been cooking also for my family, it’s always been super mild for the kids, so I feel like, this is going to be very hard for me today.”

Even though Klum had a strategy of not letting let the wings touch her lips, she couldn’t prevent a hot sauce called Da’ Bomb, which had a Scoville rating of 135,600, from getting to her.

Once Klum and Evans bit into their wings, Klum had to take a few sips of buttermilk to calm her taste buds, saying, “I’m getting hot.” She then proceeded to unbutton her denim top and fan herself with it to cool herself down.

“Now, I’m getting hot, too, Heidi,” Evans joked while fanning himself with his hands.

However, that didn’t seem to help because moments later, Klum took more sips of buttermilk and took off her top completely.

“That one is the kicker,” she said, referencing the hot sauce.

“I feel slightly better,” she eventually said after wiping her nose and fanning her underarms.

While Klum struggled tasting Da’ Bomb hot sauce, she had a much better time eating a chicken wing that was coated in Peppers Up! hot sauce, which boasts a Scoville level of 700,000.

“This is almost doable again,” she said while taking a bite. “Are you sure about this one?”

“Yup,” Evans replied. “Wow, amazing Heidi. Impressive.”

Justin Timberlake breaks his silence following Hamptons DWI arrest https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/justin-timberlake-breaks-his-silence-following-hamptons-dwi-arrest/5529436/ 5529436 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2153478765.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Justin Timberlake broke his silence following his arrest for driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons on June 18.

The pop star took the stage at his concert in Chicago on June 21 for the first time since his arrest. He thanked his fans for “growing up” with him over the years.

“We’ve been through ups and downs and lefts and rights,” he said to the cheering crowd. “It’s been a tough week.”

“I know sometimes I’m hard to love but you keep on loving me and I’m going to love you right back,” he continued.

Timberlake didn’t specifically mention the DWI.

Timberlake, 43, was driving a gray 2025 BMW when an officer observed him run a stop sign and then fail to stay in his lane on two occasions, the Sag Harbor Police Department said in a complaint released on June 18.

Surveillance video posted on Hamptons.com appears to show a vehicle that matches the description of the one Timberlake was driving when he was pulled over and arrested by police in New York early Tuesday.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and determined Timberlake was driving in an “intoxicated condition,” police said.

In the complaint, an officer said Timberlake’s “eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

The “SexyBack” singer told officers, “I had one martini and followed my friends home,” Sag Harbor police said.

He refused to take a breathalyzer test three times, police said. He was placed under arrest and held overnight.

Timberlake was arraigned on at least one DWI charge on Tuesday morning, a Sag Harbor court spokesperson and a Suffolk County District Attorney’s office spokesperson confirmed to NBC News.

Timberlake pleaded not guilty and was ordered to appear in court on July 26, officials said.

After the arraignment, Timberlake was released “on his own recognizance, according to police.

Edward Burke Jr., an attorney for Timberlake, issued a statement to NBC News on Wednesday: “I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations. I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.”

Timberlake ate at the American Hotel in the upscale Long Island beach town on Monday evening and then was headed to a friend’s home when he was pulled over, a source close to the star told NBC News.

Timberlake released his latest album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” in March, and began his “Forget Tomorrow World Tour” in April in Vancouver, Canada.

The pop star and father of two‘s last show was in Miami on June 15, and his next performance was set for June 21 in Chicago.

Timberlake’s tour dates were scheduled through December and featured appearances in North America and Europe.

In fact, the “Fortnight” singer added in a special nod to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end during her June 21 Eras Tour show at London’s Wembley Stadium, which Kelce attended alongside brother Jason Kelce, sister-in-law Kylie Kelce and close friend Ross Travis.

During her performance of “So High School,” Swift, 34, mimed drawing back a bow and arrow like an archer before she sat down on the bleachers to sing. The cute gesture referenced one of Travis Kelce’s signature moves when he’s celebrating a touchdown at Arrowhead Stadium.

And the NFL star’s reaction to the moment was nothing short of adorable. In a video shared to TikTok June 21, Travis Kelce, also 34, was seen singing along to the entirety of the “Tortured Poets Department” track while watching the stage with a huge smile on his face.

Of course, this isn’t the only reference to the football player in Swift’s performance of “So High School,” which fans believe was inspired by their romance.

Taylor Swift Cheers on Travis Kelce at Her 4th Kansas City Chiefs Game

While sitting on the bleachers, the Grammy winner and her backup dancers also do a rendition of the swag-surf — a move Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs often do when celebrating a win.

As for what the “New Heights” podcast host thought of that choreography addition? It’s safe to say it earned his approval. After all, Travis Kelce previously shared it’s his favorite song on the album and he had a “blast” watching the updated version of the show in Paris alongside Swift’s pal Gigi Hadid and her boyfriend Bradley Cooper.

“It was an all-around lovely night,” Travis Kelce recalled during a May 15 episode of “New Heights.” “I don’t know if they’re just getting better or if I’m just forgetting how good they are.”

He added, “It was electric.”

Julie Chrisley to be resentenced after appeals court throws out 7-year punishment https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/julie-chrisley-to-be-resentenced/5528995/ 5528995 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/04/AP24109564354576.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Reality TV star Julie Chrisley’s sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion was thrown out Friday by federal appeals judges, who ordered a lower court to redo her punishment over what the appellate panel called a “narrow issue.”

Julie Chrisley and her husband, Todd Chrisley, who earned fame for the show “Chrisley Knows Best” that chronicled the exploits of their tight-knit family, were convicted in 2022 of conspiring to defraud community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans. The Chrisleys were also found guilty of tax evasion by hiding their earnings while showcasing an extravagant lifestyle.

The couple’s accountant, Peter Tarantino, stood trial with them and was convicted of conspiracy to defraud the United States and willfully filing false tax returns.

A three-judge panel of 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the convictions of the Chrisleys and Tarantino in a ruling that found a legal error only in how the trial judge calculated Julie Chrisley’s sentence by holding her accountable for the entire bank fraud scheme. So the appellate panel sent her case back to the lower court for re-sentencing.

Before the Chrisleys became reality television stars, they and a former business partner submitted false documents to banks in the Atlanta area to obtain fraudulent loans, prosecutors said during the trial. They accused the couple of spending lavishly on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel, and using new fraudulent loans to pay off old ones. Todd Chrisley then filed for bankruptcy, according to prosecutors, walking away from more than $20 million in unpaid loans.

Julie Chrisley was sentenced to seven years in federal prison, and Todd Chrisley got 12 years behind bars. The couple was also ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution.

Their defense attorneys argued unsuccessfully on appeal that at an IRS officer lied at the trial when he testified about the couple still owing taxes and that prosecutors knowingly failed to correct that false testimony. They also asserted that prosecutors failed to show enough evidence to convict the Chrisleys of tax evasion and conspiracy, or that Julie Chrisley participated in bank fraud.

Tarantino’s lawyer argued that the accountant was harmed by being tried with the Chrisleys. His request for a new trial was denied.

The appellate judges found only one error with the case. They ruled that the trial judge at sentencing held Julie Chrisley responsible for the entire bank fraud scheme starting in 2006. The panel ruled neither prosecutors nor the trial judge cited “any specific evidence showing she was involved in 2006.”

The panel found sufficient evidence tying her to fraud from multiple years starting in 2007.

“We must vacate Julie’s sentence so the district court can address the narrow issue of what the proper loss amount attributable to Julie is” so that her sentence can be re-calculated, the appeals panel wrote.

Alex Little, an attorney for the Chrisleys, did not immediately respond to an email message seeking comment Friday evening.

Todd Chrisley, 56, is at a minimum security federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, with a release date in September 2032, while Julie Chrisley, 51, is at a facility in Lexington, Kentucky, and is due for release in July 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website.

Tarantino, 61, s being held in a minimum security federal prison camp in Montgomery, Alabama, with a release date in August of next year.

Ben Affleck was sleeping on Matt Damon's couch when ‘Good Will Hunting' script sold for $650,000 https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/business/money-report/ben-affleck-was-sleeping-on-matt-damons-couch-when-good-will-hunting-script-sold-for-650000/5528753/ 5528753 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/107431922-1718996428413-gettyimages-1235869005-NUP_195736_00113JPG.jpeg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,176 Selling the screenplay for “Good Will Hunting” didn’t just help Ben Affleck break into Hollywood, it also helped him get off Matt Damon’s couch.

In 1994, Affleck had found himself without a place to live after breaking up with a girlfriend he recently moved in with. His first call was to Damon, who was living with another roommate at the time. The pair invited Affleck to come stay with them.

“I was sleeping on a Naugahyde couch,” he explained in an appearance this week on Peacock’s “Hart to Heart“. “It was three of us in this two-bedroom little thing.”

While he was crashing on Damon’s couch, Hollywood began showing interest in the script they had written together. “It turned into this crazy, surreal thing,” he said of the bidding war for their screenplay.

Suddenly finding themselves with leverage, Affleck and Damon’s agent was able to push studios to commit to allowing them to appear in the film.

“When we finally sold it, we sold the script for $650,000,” he said. “We split it, $325,000 each.”

With money in the bank, Affleck and Damon were ready to splurge.

“Me and him both bought new Jeep Grand Cherokees,” he said. “Right away. First check, it was ‘When can I get my Jeep?'”

“We had to flip for colors, because we both wanted black,” he added. “One of us had to get green.”

Buying the $55,000 Jeep even came ahead of finding Affleck a bedroom of his own.

“I had the car before I got off the couch,” he said.

With their cars settled, Affleck and Damon set about finding a home with more bedrooms. The duo had no credit, but Affleck said they succeeded in securing a lease by showing their prospective landlord an issue of Variety announcing the sale of their script. They settled on a “kind of janky party house” near the Hollywood Bowl.

“At the time I thought it was the s—,” he said. “All our friends from home moved out. We had seven, eight people living in there. Between the Cherokee and the rent and taxes, I was broke in eight months.”

Of course, their finances took a turn for the better after ‘Good Will Hunting’ won them the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay at the 70th Academy Awards.

They’ve since done well for themselves. As recently as 2020, Ben Affleck was earning as much as $55 million in a year, according to Forbes data.

Damon, meanwhile, has earned enough during his career that he was able to purchase Brooklyn’s most expensive home.

The “Hawaii Five-0″ family has lost one of its own.

Actor Taylor Wily, who starred as Kamekona on the former CBS series, passed away at the age of 56, the show’s creator Peter M. Lenkov confirmed on Instagram June 20.

“I am devastated,” Lenkov captioned a photo with Wily. “Heartbroken. I’ll post some detailed feelings later. Just too hard right now.”

In a follow up Instagram post, the producer recalled meeting Wily, who appeared on all 10 seasons of the series, before production on the reboot of the original show began in 2010.

“T, as I told you many times, I fell in love with you at the first audition,” he wrote. “You came in with a towel on your head mopping up sweat, and I was smitten. You charmed me into making you a regular… on the show… and in my life. You were family. And I will miss you every day, brother.”

“PS: when we spoke last week, we laughed at how right you were from Day 1,” Lenkov continued. “Five-0 was our dream job. And I was so lucky we got to share that magic together.”

Celebrity Deaths: 2024’s Fallen Stars

In response to Lenkov’s tributes to Wily, many fans and fellow stars, including fellow “Magnum P.I.” and “Hawaii Five-O” actor Zachary Knighton, sent their condolences.

“Nicest guy ever RIP,” he commented, while producer Trey Callaway wrote that Wily’s memory “will indeed remain a blessing to millions.”

Local Hawaii outlet KITV also paid tribute to the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star June 20 and sent love to his wife Halona Wily and their children.

The former sumo wrestler and MMA fighter’s cause of death has not been made public at this time.

Kourtney Kardashian shares Rocky's rare lung issue that led to surgery https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/kourtney-kardashian-shares-rockys-rare-lung-issue-that-led-to-surgery/5526176/ 5526176 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-1935993766.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Kourtney Kardashian is sharing more insight into her and Travis Barker‘s 7-month-old son’s health.

“The Kardashians” star opened up about the reason she underwent emergency fetal surgery during her pregnancy in September, sharing in the June 20 episode that there was fluid in Rocky Thirteen Barker‘s lungs.

“We had a terrifying scare,” she said. “It’s super rare — the condition that he had — but it’s also super rare and lucky that we caught it. Thank you, God, for a successful surgery. I’m honestly just so grateful, I have no words.”

And although the operation went well, Kourtney said she was “filled with fear” following the procedure and when Rocky’s symptoms returned.

“The fluid in his lungs actually did start coming back,” the 45-year-old explained in a confessional. “Then I watched this documentary called Heal that was all about the power of positive thinking and how our thinking can really affect our health.”

The Poosh founder was inspired to change her outlook and hope for the best.

Photos: Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker’s Road to Baby

“I started talking to the baby every day, saying my prayers,” she continued. “After I had that mindset shift, the fluid was completely gone and we had not one single problem after.”

Still, Barker was worried about Rocky up until he was born.

As they headed to the hospital, which was documented on the Hulu show, he told his wife, “I don’t want him to come out early. I want to make sure his lungs are perfect — everything’s perfect.”

And in the end, their son, born Nov. 1, is just that.

“It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of,” Kardashian gushed on the show. “Everything we’ve been through to get to this moment, it just feels so surreal.”

She added, “I’m so happy in my blissful baby bubble and the love with Rocky.”

Eva Longoria says she and Meryl Streep call each other ‘cousin' since learning they're related https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/eva-longoria-says-she-and-meryl-streep-call-each-other-cousin-since-learning-theyre-related/5526141/ 5526141 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/image_bcf605.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all Eva Longoria and Meryl Streep treated each other like family while filming the upcoming season of “Only Murders in the Building.”

The two actors have used a special nickname for each other ever since they learned they are distant relatives after participating in Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s 2010 PBS docuseries “Faces of America,” Longoria told DuJour.

“We actually call each other ‘cousin,’” the former “Desperate Housewives” star, 49, said, adding, “We’ll say, ‘How are you, cousin?’ and ‘I’m good, cousin.’”

Streep, 74, introduced Longoria as her cousin during the first Zoom table read for “Only Murders,” which was attended by more than 100 people involved with the show, including actors Selena Gomez, Molly Shannon and Zach Galifianakis, Longoria said.

“She tells the story and everyone’s so confused, because I’m the most Latina person in the industry, and she’s Meryl Streep,” Longoria recalled.

Longoria added that she had a blast working alongside comedy veterans Steve Martin and Martin Short on the show.

“Watching them make a lunch order is a show in itself,” she joked. “It’s a constant roast about a sandwich, a 30-minute comedy about mustard.”

On June 20, Longoria stopped by TODAY with Hoda & Jenna, where she opened up about her new Apple TV+ series “Land of Women,” which premieres June 26.

The dramatic comedy, which features characters speaking both English and Spanish, tells the story of an American socialite who is forced to leave New York City with her daughter and her mother to live life on the run in a small Spanish village.

Longoria said acting in Spanish for the first time was “so hard,” particularly since she had to speak Castilian Spanish, which is different than the Spanish spoken in Latin America.

“My brain hurt every day,” she said.

She added that “being funny” in another language was a challenge for her.

“Like, the timing and the rhythm is very different in a different language,” she said.

Longoria jokingly described how she had to be coached about where to place her accent when she spoke.

“But it’s good because I play the American in Spain so I’m very much a fish out of water,” she said. “So those mistakes, we started making fun of.”

Matthew Stafford's wife says she dated teammate to make him jealous https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/matthew-staffords-wife-says-she-dated-teammate-to-make-him-jealous/5525979/ 5525979 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-1367760079.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Kelly Stafford almost didn’t make it to the end zone with Matthew Stafford.

The wife of the Los Angeles Rams quarterback detailed the couple’s road to romance after meeting at the University of Georgia — and as she explained, their love story “started out horrible.”

“Long story short,” she explained on the “Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe” podcast June 11, “wasn’t that cute of a relationship at first.”

The 35-year-old said that she and the NFL star met before school started, as he was the quarterback and she was a cheerleader. And while she was ready to jump into a relationship, he was more interested in “casual dating.” But as Kelly joked, “I didn’t know what that was.”

Instead, they were very much off and on, with her saying, “I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off.”

Kelly noted that his teammate — whom she described as a “bad boy” to the footballer’s “Southern gentleman” — lived in the same dorm as Matthew, so he most certainly noticed her extracurricular activities.

Love Lives of NFL Quarterbacks

“He would see my car there. And so at one point, he waited, and followed me out and got in my car and wouldn’t get out,” she said. “I was like, ‘Get out of my car,’ and he’s like, ‘He’s not right for you.’ And I’m like you, ‘You can’t tell me that.'”

Kelly joked that while the duo were arguing, her internal monologue was ecstatic, “I was like, ‘This is amazing, it’s working!'”

Luckily, the two have made for a winning couple over the years, marrying in 2015 and welcoming daughters Chandler, 6, Sawyer, 6, Hunter, 5, and Tyler, 3. But Kelly is still surprised they ended up together — and she might not be the only one.

“I think if you ask anyone who knew us at Georgia if they thought we would have ended up together, four kids, they would have laughed their asses off,” she said. “I think I would have laughed my ass off at that.”

And while she might have laughed, it’s clear that she and Matthew have something special, especially when it comes to raising their daughters.

“He is the softest, most patient man,” she told E! News in 2022. “My dad always said one of the most important relationships in life is a father-daughter relationship just because of the confidence your dad can give you.”

She continued, “I am so grateful that I ended up with Matthew because he sets such an incredible example as to the partner they should want to be with.”

Shannen Doherty claims ex Kurt Iswarienko is waiting for her to die to avoid paying spousal support https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/shannen-doherty-claims-ex-kurt-iswarienko-is-waiting-for-her-to-die-to-avoid-paying-spousal-support/5527625/ 5527625 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2023/04/GettyImages-1436452177-e1682204268244.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,190 Originally appeared on E! Shannen Doherty is worried she won’t get what she’s owed.

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum — who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2020 — claims she has not been granted access to the financial records regarding her ex Kurt Iswarienko‘s archive of photography work, ultimately slowing down the process of her receiving spousal support, according to court documents obtained by NBC News and first reported by People.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me,” Shannen alleged in the documents, “while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years.”

The 53-year-old is asking for $15,434 a month from Iswarienko, 49, due to her dwindling “Charmed” residuals and losing her SAG health insurance from being unable to act amid her health struggles.

Iswarienko’s lawyer denied the claim in the filing, saying he offered Doherty, who prior to her 2020 cancer diagnosis had battled breast cancer, a settlement deal in October and expressing hope to “put the case behind them and move forward.”

Trashed Dressing Rooms, Co-Star Couplings, Fist Fights and Firings: Secrets of the Original Beverly Hills, 90210 Revealed

But withholding his financial records isn’t the only accusation Doherty makes in her filing. The “Charmed” actress also alleges that Iswarienko has been spending “thousands of dollars at medical spas, jewelry stores, Gucci, and on flights” while meanwhile claiming he has insufficient funds to pay her support.

E! News reached out to Iswarienko’s lawyer for comment but has not heard back.

Doherty filed for divorce from Iswarienko in April 2023 after 11 years of marriage. At the time, her rep explained to E! News that the decision was born out of necessity, saying, “Divorce is the last thing Shannen wanted. Unfortunately, she felt she was left with no other option.”

Months later, the “Let’s Be Clear” podcast host — who was previously married to Ashley Hamilton during the ’90s and to Rick Salomon during the early 2000s — spoke out about the breakup, accusing Iswarienko of having an affair amid her ongoing cancer battle. (Iswarienko has not publicly responded to the accusation.)

Doherty’s also since gotten candid about the lesson she’s learned since ending her third marriage.

“I love the idea of marriage,” she told her former fiancé and longtime friend Rob Weiss during the April 15 episode of her “Let’s Be Clear” podcast. “I believe in that, but after my last brutal marriage, what it taught me is that a piece of paper doesn’t really mean anything.”

She added, “It doesn’t stop a person from lying.”

Ben Affleck addresses why he always looks angry in paparazzi photos https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/why-ben-affleck-looks-angry-in-paparazzi-photos/5525642/ 5525642 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/AFFLECK.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Originally appeared on E! Ben Affleck is a man of many emotions.

The actor — who is the inspiration for the internet’s viral “Sad Affleck” memes — is addressing another public perception about himself: That he also seems to appear angry in paparazzi pictures.

“I’m also a little bit shy,” the Oscar winner confessed to Kevin Hart during the season four premiere of Peacock‘s “Hart to Heart.” “I also don’t like a lot of attention. That’s why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why’s this dude always mad?’ Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face and I’m like, ‘Okay, here we go.'”

Plus, he wants to protect his family — which includes his kids Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, with ex Jennifer Garner and wife Jennifer Lopez‘s 16-year-old twins Max and Emme — from the invasive photographers.

“Also, because I’m with my kids and they’re taking my picture,” Affleck added during the June 20 episode. “Actually, what I’d like to do is much more definitive than just look at you like this. I don’t mind, you can take my picture at a club or a premiere, with my wife, I don’t give a f—. Knock yourself out. I don’t notice you. But with my children that’s a different thing.”

Ben Affleck Through the Years

However, the 51-year-old did admit that his family does call him out from time to time over his not-so-sunny facial expressions — even when he’s in the best of moods.

“By the way, I also might be somebody who I do find myself I’ll be sitting at home,” Affleck noted, “and they’re like, ‘What’s wrong?’ ‘Nothing. Nothing’s wrong.'”

The anecdote prompted Hart to suggest the “Argo” star has “resting b—- face,” to which Affleck hilariously replied, “B—-?! I have resting hard face.”

In the end, Affleck declared, “People are projecting something onto me that I don’t feel about myself at all.”

The Oscar winner’s latest comments about shying away from the public eye come amid ongoing speculation that he and Lopez are headed for a breakup after two years of marriage, though neither star has publicly addressed divorce rumors.

Actor Donald Sutherland, whose career spanned ‘M.A.S.H.' to ‘Hunger Games,' dead at 88 https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/donald-sutherland-mash-actor-dead-88/5524699/ 5524699 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/donald-sutherland-dead-88-e1718904664217.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Donald Sutherland, the prolific film and television actor whose long career stretched from “M.A.S.H.” to “The Hunger Games,” has died. He was 88.

Kiefer Sutherland, the actor’s son, confirmed the news of his father’s death Thursday. No further details were immediately available.

“I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film,” Kiefer Sutherland said on X. “Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that.”

The tall and gaunt Canadian actor with a grin that could be sweet or diabolical was known for offbeat characters like Hawkeye Pierce in Robert Altman’s “M.A.S.H.,” the hippie tank commander in “Kelly’s Heroes” and the stoned professor in “Animal House.”

Before transitioning into a long career as a respected character actor, Sutherland epitomized the unpredictable, anti-establishment cinema of the 1970s.

Over the decades, Sutherland showed his range in more buttoned-down — but still eccentric — parts in Robert Redford’s “Ordinary People” and Oliver Stone’s “JFK.” More, recently, he starred in the “Hunger Games” films. He never retired, working regularly up until his death. A memoir, “Made Up, But Still True,” was due out in November.

“I love to work. I passionately love to work,” Sutherland told Charlie Rose in 1998. “I love to feel my hand fit into the glove of some other character. I feel a huge freedom — time stops for me. I’m not as crazy as I used to be, but I’m still a little crazy.”

Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Donald McNichol Sutherland was the son of a salesman and a mathematics teacher. Raised in Nova Scotia, he was a disc jockey with his own radio station at the age of 14.

“When I was 13 or 14, I really thought everything I felt was wrong and dangerous, and that God was going to kill me for it,” Sutherland told The New York Times in 1981. “My father always said, ‘Keep your mouth shut, Donnie, and maybe people will think you have character.'”

Sutherland began as an engineering student at the University of Toronto but switched to English and started acting in school theatrical productions. While studying in Toronto, he met Lois Hardwick, an aspiring actress. They married in 1959 but divorced seven years later.

After graduating in 1956, Sutherland attended the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts to study acting. Sutherland began appearing in West End plays and on British television. After a move to Los Angeles, he continued to bounce around until a series of war films changed his trajectory.

His first American film was “The Dirty Dozen” (1967), in which he played Vernon Pinkley, the officer-impersonating psychopath. 1970 saw the release of both the World War II yarn “Kelly’s Heroes” and “M.A.S.H.,” an acclaimed smash hit that catapulted Sutherland to stardom.

“There is more challenge in character roles,” Sutherland told The Washington Post in 1970. “There’s longevity. A good character actor can show a different face in every film and not bore the public.”

If Sutherland had had his way, Altman would have been fired from “M.A.S.H.” He and co-star Elliott Gould were unhappy with the director’s unorthodox, improvisational style and fought to have him replaced. But the film caught on beyond anyone’s expectations and Sutherland identified personally with its anti-war message.

Outspoken against the Vietnam War, Sutherland, actress Jane Fonda and others founded the Free Theater Associates in 1971. Banned by the Army because of their political views, they performed in venues near military bases in Southeast Asia in 1973.

Sutherland’s career as a leading man peaked in the 1970s when he starred in films by the era’s top directors — even if they didn’t always do their best work with him. Sutherland, who frequently said he considered himself at the service of a director’s vision, worked with Federico Fellini (1976’s “Fellini’s Casanova”), Bernardo Bertolucci (1976’s “1900”), Claude Chabrol (1978’s “Blood Relatives”) and John Schlesinger (1975’s “The Day of the Locust”).

One of his finest performances came as a detective in Alan Pakula’s “Klute” (1971). It was during filming on “Klute” that he met Fonda, with whom he had a three-year-long relationship that began at the end of his second marriage to actor Shirley Douglas. Having been married in 1966, he and Douglas divorced in 1971.

Sutherland had twins with Douglas in 1966: Rachel and Kiefer, who was named after Warren Kiefer, the writer of Sutherland’s first film, “Castle of the Living Dead.”

In 1974, the actor began living with actress Francine Racette, with whom he remained ever after. They had three children: Roeg, born in 1974 and named after the director Nicolas Roeg (“Don’t Look Now”); Rossif, born in 1978 and named after the director Frederick Rossif; and Angus Redford, born in 1979 and named after Robert Redford.

It was Redford who, to the surprise of some, cast Sutherland as the father in his directorial debut, 1980’s “Ordinary People.” Redford’s drama about a handsome suburban family destroyed by tragedy won four Oscars, including best picture.

Sutherland was overlooked by the academy throughout most of his career. He was never nominated but was presented with an honorary Oscar in 2017. He did, though, win an Emmy in 1995 for the TV film “Citizen X” and was nominated for seven Golden Globes (including for his performances in “M.A.S.H.” and “Ordinary People”), winning two — again for “Citizen X” and for the 2003 TV film “Path to War.”

“Ordinary People” also presaged a shift in Sutherland’s career toward more mature and sometimes less offbeat characters.

His New York stage debut in 1981, though, went terribly. He played Humbert Humbert in Edward Albee’s adaptation of Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita,” and the reviews were merciless; it closed after a dozen performances.

A down period in the ’80s followed, thanks to failures like the 1981 satire “Gas” and the 1984 comedy “Crackers.”

But Sutherland continued to work steadily. He had a brief but memorable role in Oliver Stone’s “JFK” (1991). He again played a patriarch for Redford in his 1993 movie “Six Degrees of Separation.” He played track coach Bill Bowerman in 1998’s “Without Limits.”

In the last decade, Sutherland increasingly worked in television, most memorably in HBO’s “Path to War,” in which he played President Lyndon Johnson’s Secretary of Defense Clark Clifford. For a career launched by “M.A.S.H.,” it was a fitting, if ironic bookend.

Hollywood legend Carol Burnett places her handprints in cement at TCL Chinese Theatre https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/carol-burnett-hollywood-chinese-theater-handprints/5526224/ 5526224 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/carol-burnett-handprints-june-2024.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,179 Comedy legend Carol Burnett placed her handprints and footprints in cement Thursday outside TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.

Talk show host Jimmy Kimmel and Burnett’s castmates in the AppleTV+ comedy “Palm Royale” Laura Dern and Bob Odenkirk were part of the ceremony.

“She’s an example of leading by instinct and without bitterness,” Dern said. “She thrives on challenges that have re-invented television and everything the arts can encompass.”

Burnett, 91, already has a significant presence in the heart of Hollywood in honor of her entertainment career. She received a nearby star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1975 and depicted on a mural at her alma mater Hollywood High School that was completed in 2002.

The intersection of Highland and Selma avenues, adjacent to Hollywood High School, was named after her in 2013.

Burnett remembered her beloved grandmother at the ceremony. Burnett was born in San Antonio in April 1933, but moved to Hollywood as a child with her grandmother to a one-room apartment.

“If my grandmother is somehow floating around, I know that she is as amazed and thrilled as I am,” Burnett said. “And, I thank you so very much.”

Burnett, best known for the 1967-78 variety show “The Carol Burnett Show.” won three Emmys as a performer. She won a Grammy for best spoken word album for the audio book for her 2016 memoir about her show, “In Such Good Company: Eleven Years Of Laughter, Mayhem, And Fun In The Sandbox” and a special Tony Award.

Rapper Travis Scott arrested in Miami after police say he drunkenly yelled at people on a yacht https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/travis-scott-arrested-in-miami-dade-county/5523688/ 5523688 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157698130.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,206 Rapper Travis Scott was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami Beach after allegedly yelling at people on a yacht and admitting he had been drinking, telling officers “It’s Miami,” authorities said.

Scott, whose real name is Jacques Bermon Webster II, was charged with trespassing on property and disorderly intoxication, Miami-Dade jail records showed. He later posted bond, which was set at $650.

According to an arrest report, officers responded to 300 Alton Road dock D for a disturbance on one of the yachts. Scott was allegedly yelling at occupants of the vessel from the dock.

Officers said they told him to sit, but he kept standing up. Authorities told him to leave or be arrested, the report said.

The complainant reportedly did not want to press charges, but did want the rapper off of the vessel.

“Throughout the long walk from the vessel to the boardwalk, the defendant walked backwards yelling obscenities to the occupants of the vessel,” authorities said.

When Scott made it back to a vehicle that was waiting for him, he allegedly “told one of his security personnel to get out of the vehicle. The defendant then stated to officers, ‘If he gets in the vehicle he’s gonna catch a fade,’ which is slang for fighting,” police said.

Eventually, he did leave the marina in a vehicle, but returned five minutes later, bypassing officers in the parking lot and making his way toward the yacht, according to the arrest report.

Police said when Scott started speaking to officers, he began yelling, “becoming erratic, disturbing the peace of the occupants of the marina and nearby residential buildings causing a public disturbance.”

Scott, 33, was arrested and later “admitted that he had been drinking alcohol and stated ‘It’s Miami,’” according to police.

At 8:45 a.m., the rapper seemed to joke about the arrest, tweeting, “Lol.” He also later shared an edited photo of his mugshot on his Instagram story, adding sunglasses and ear buds.

Scott’s publicist did not respond to NBC Miami’s request for comment.

Scott shares two children with influencer, business woman and the youngest of the famous Kardashian-Jenner siblings Kylie Jenner.

He is eight days away from his European tour, Circus Maximus, which is set to begin at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands on June 28.

In 2021, the native of Houston, Texas, faced serious scrutiny for the tragedy at his Astroworld Festival, which left 10 people dead. He settled the last of the wrongful death lawsuits against him in May, according to the Houston Chronicle, which cited the lawyer for the youngest victim, 9-year-old Ezra Blount.

Scott later announced the launch of Project HEAL, a “multi-tier initiative dedicated to addressing challenges facing today’s youth, especially those from marginalized and at-risk communities.”

Attorney for Justin Timberlake addresses star's arrest for alleged DWI on Long Island https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/justin-timberlake-attorney-statement-long-island-dwi-arrest/5521790/ 5521790 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/Sag-Harbor-police-w-Timberlake-inset.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169

An attorney for Justin Timberlake has issued a statement regarding the pop star’s arrest on Long Island for alleged drunken driving after he repeatedly refused to take a chemical test during a police traffic stop.

“I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations,” said attorney Edward Burke Jr.

An officer observed the grey BMW with Florida license plates that Timberlake had been driving as it twice failed to stay on the right side of the road shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday in Sag Harbor, according to the criminal complaint. He also allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign on Madison Street at Jermain Avenue, before having trouble staying on his side of the road.

After seeing him swerve twice, police pulled the vehicle over.

I look forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations.

Timberlake’s attorney Edward Burke Jr.

The cop who stopped him said the so-dubbed “Prince of Pop” appeared to be drunk, with bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. The complaint says Timberlake was unsteady and had slowed speech; he also allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests. They said he couldn’t focus on speaking to police while he was looking for his registration, either.

“I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” Timberlake allegedly told officers.

Officers took him to the Sag Village Police Department for processing, where the complaint says he refused three times over the course of about 40 minutes to take a chemical test of his blood alcohol content.

“No, I’m not doing a chemical test,” Timberlake said according to the complaint. The singer reiterated twice, “I refuse.”

He was then taken to East Hampton Town police headquarters and held overnight ahead of his Tuesday morning arraignment. Timberlake was released on his own recognizance after that hearing. Timberlake pleaded not guilty in court and was ordered back on July 26, officials said.

Mugshot photo released by the Sag Harbor Police Department.

On Wednesday, Timberlake’s attorney released a statement regarding the arrest.

“I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office,” said Burke Jr.

The singer has not released any comment on the incident himself. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office had no further comment.

Timberlake’s wife, Jessica Biel, was spotted back on set filming “The Better Sister” in Manhattan hours after his arrest, according to E!.

Police also have the encounter on body and dash cameras, but the footage has not been released.

Before his arrest, Timberlake had been leaving The American Hotel on Main Street, a popular spot in Sag Harbor. Famed singer Billy Joel lives in the town and was spotted at the hotel and restaurant Tuesday by an NBC News crew.

“I don’t really know him that much, so I have no comment,” Joel said when asked about Timberlake’s encounter with police.

“Judge not, lest ye be judged,” Joel added.

The arrest comes amid Timberlake’s first world tour in nearly six years. The pop icon is scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week on June 25 and 26.

Madison Square Garden Entertainment representatives deferred questions to Timberlake’s representatives.

Sag Harbor is a coastal village in the Hamptons, around 100 miles from New York City. In the summer, it is a hot spot for wealthy visitors.

Jessica Biel steps out in New York after Justin Timberlake's arrest https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/jessica-biel-steps-out-in-new-york-after-justin-timberlakes-arrest/5521847/ 5521847 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157653204.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Originally appeared on E! The show must go on for Jessica Biel following Justin Timberlake‘s DWI arrest.

The actress was back on the Manhattan set of “The Better Sister” on June 18, hours after her husband was charged with driving while intoxicated and released from police custody in Long Island, N.Y.

With her hair in a sleek bob, Biel — who shares sons Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3, with the *NSYNC alum — wore a striped black-and-tan dress as she filmed scenes for the new series based on the Alafair Burke novel of the same name. The day before, she was spotted shooting the Amazon Prime Video project with costar Elizabeth Banks and Corey Stoll in Central Park.

This was the first time the 42-year-old was seen out since Timberlake’s arrest, which occurred shortly after midnight when Sag Harbor police pulled him over for driving through a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane of traffic, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel’s Cutest Family Moments

Upon investigation, officers noticed that Timberlake’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” with a “strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath,” the filing read. Police at the scene also noted that the 43-year-old had “slowed speech” and was “unable to divide attention” throughout the encounter.

Authorities said Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests” and refused to be tested for impairment multiple times, allegedly telling officers, “‘No, I’m not doing a chemical test.'”

“This determination was based in part from undersigned’s training and experience in detecting intoxication and in administering field sobriety tests and having been involved in numerous DWI cases,” the responding officer wrote in the complaint, adding that Timberlake also allegedly told him during the traffic stop, “‘I had one martini and I followed my friends home.'”

Timberlake was held in police custody until his morning arraignment, after which he was released without bail, per authorities.

Neither Timberlake or Biel have publicly spoken out about the arrest. An attorney for Timberlake said in a statement to NBC News that he looks forward to “vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake on these allegations.”

“I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office,” his lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., added.

A source with knowledge of the situation previously told E! News that the “SexyBack” singer was a dinner with friends prior to his run-in with the cops.

“As he left the restaurant, there was a patrol car seemingly stationed near the restaurant,” the insider shared. “He was stopped and, was arrested. Nobody was hurt.”

E! News has reached out to Timberlake’s rep for comment.

‘Verzuz' will return after Swizz Beatz, Timbaland lock in new distribution partnership with X https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/verzuz-swizz-beatz-timbaland-distribution-partnership-x/5521428/ 5521428 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-500008820_fb9626.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169  Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are bringing the “Verzuz” series back with a new major platform for viewers to watch musicians face off in a song-against-song battle.

The legendary producers announced Wednesday that Verzuz cemented an exclusive partnership for independent distribution with the social media site X.

Swizz Beatz said he’s looking forward to the new chapter for Verzuz, which became popular during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Not only are we excited to have Verzuz on X, we’re excited to help X build the biggest entertainment company in the world,” he said in statement before he thanked several X executives including owner Elon Musk for believing in their vision. “We can’t wait to get back to work.”

Both companies agreed on a “mutually beneficial alliance” where Swizz Beatz and Timbaland maintain full ownership and creative control, while X receives exclusive distribution rights.

Timbaland said he’s thrilled to expand their viewership through X, which has more than 300 millions monthly active users. Viewers will be able to watch “Verzuz” for free.

“Our goal has always been to bring Verzuz to the world which we can now do bigger than ever,” he said.

“Verzuz” came to life in 2020 after a friendly competition between Swizz Beatz and Timbaland on social media started off to entertain homebound fans during the pandemic. But their platform eventually evolved into a place where some of music’s biggest stars competed against each other in the same fashion.

The series had grown from a novel event to bridging music’s past and present. It began on Instagram Live to having in-person battles in front of an audience.

Some of the most epic battles have included John Legend vs. Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott, Gladys Knight vs. Patti LaBelle, Gucci Mane vs. Jeezy, Brandy vs. Monica and Snoop Dogg vs. DMX. An April battle between Babyface vs. Teddy Riley ended abruptly due to audio issues but was completed another night.

The series was acquired by Triller in 2021, but Swizz Beatz and Timbaland sued the social video platform company for breach of contract. The producers settled with Triller in 2022.

“Our platform stands at the forefront of innovation, and Verzuz defines the essence of an innovative content experience,” said X CEO Linda Yaccarino. “As we continue to work with the most exciting voices to bring premium content to X, there is no better fit than this series.”

Grimace threw out the first pitch at a Mets game. What came next has people going crazy for him https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/sports/grimace-threw-first-pitch-mets-game-winning-streak/5521244/ 5521244 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/Grimace-Mets.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 If you’d asked New York Mets fans during the winter what their expectations were for the team heading into the 2024 season, they might have said that if everything were to break right, the Mets could sneak into the playoffs as a wild card in the National League.

Those fans might have also told you that oftentimes things do not break right for the Mets. (They can be a glass-half-empty bunch, particularly on social media.) At times the bullpen has blown leads, key hitters have struggled at the plate, and as recently as a week ago, when the Mets were nine games under .500, the team’s situation appeared to be relatively bleak.

That is, until a new and unexpected hero emerged at the Mets’ ballpark in Queens: Grimace.

The beloved McDonald’s character, who is celebrating his birthday this monththrew out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field prior to a June 12 game against the Miami Marlins. He was introduced as the “ultimate baseball fan, all the way from McDonaldland.”

Standing on the mound and wearing the Mets’ City Connect cap, Grimace bounced a pitch in the dirt but kept the smile on his face.

The pitch in and of itself wasn’t remarkable, though it was pretty impressive for a fast-food mascot. No, what has been remarkable is what has come since for the Mets: a seven-game winning streak.

The Mets, seemingly out of contention pre-Grimace, are undefeated since his first pitch: two wins against the Marlins, a three-game sweep at home of the San Diego Padres, and two road victories against the World Series champion Texas Rangers. While they’re still 13 1/2 games behind the NL East division leader Philadelphia Phillies, they are now only 1/2 game behind for one of the NL’s wild card spots.

Sure, their record is a still-mediocre 35-37, but let the Mets fans and the media have fun with this moment: They’re fully embracing Grimacemania on X. A photo circulated June 16 of a fan at Citi Field wearing a Grimace Mets jersey. T-shirts have been made of Grimace posing with the Mets’ mascots, Mr. and Mrs. Met. There have been suggestions that Grimace’s jersey number be retired if the Mets make the playoffs this year.

Emma Baccellieri of Sports Illustrated posted, “Without a signature milkshake this year, Grimace had to direct his powers elsewhere, surveying the nation for worthy causes in need and settling on the New York Mets,” referring to the much-ballyhooed shake McDonald’s released in celebration of Grimace‘s birthday at this time last year.

As others have simply summarized it, it has become a “Hot Grimace Summer” in baseball.

McDonald’s itself has chimed in, too. On June 17 it posted a digitally altered image of Grimace wearing a Mets hat, and after New York trounced Texas, 14-2, wrote, “The grimacee effectt im flattereddd.”

In a postgame interview the same night, Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo was asked how much credit he and his teammates give Grimace for their inspired play.

Laughing, Nimmo answered, “I don’t know about coincidences. He definitely correlates with us going on this run. If that’s what you want to attribute it to, then I’m all for it. Whatever it is, let’s keep it going.”

The Mets will try to keep the Grimace magic going June 19 when they continue their series against the Rangers.

Billy Ray Cyrus' estranged wife Firerose accuses him of domestic abuse https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/billy-ray-cyrus-estranged-wife-firerose-accuses-him-of-domestic-abuse/5522237/ 5522237 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-1741629301.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Online

Firerose is leveraging new allegations.

The singer (real name Johanna Rosie Hodges) accused estranged husband Billy Ray Cyrus of abusing her during their relationship, which ended in May when he filed for divorce after seven months of marriage.

Firerose, 36, alleged the Hannah Montana alum was “unpredictable and volatile,” according to court documents filed June 14 and obtained by People.

“Wife was the victim of extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse,” her attorneys wrote in the document. “Wife was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife.”

In response to the filing, Cyrus’ lawyers issued a statement to E! News alleging that Firerose — who Cyrus has accused of defrauding him into marriage — tried to reconcile with him after the breakup.

“We regret that Ms. Hodges has chosen to litigate this 7-month marriage in the press,” his lawyers Rose Palermo and Jason Talley said in a statement, “and has left Mr. Cyrus with no recourse but to set the record straight.”

Photos: A Guide to Miley Cyrus’ Family

According to the attorneys, Firerose sent a handwritten note and text to Cyrus expressing her love.

His lawyers said her allegation is “confusing and suspicious in its veracity since she begged Mr. Cyrus to forgive her and take her back only two days after he filed his pleadings to dissolve his marriage.”

“If Mr. Cyrus was truly guilty of the allegations that Ms. Hodges alleges in her pleadings, then it is mindboggling to try and explain why she would want to return to live with him,” the attorneys continued. “Furthermore, she was pleading with him to give her a chance to explain everything to him.”

E! News has reached out to Firerose’s attorney for comment but hasn’t heard back.

Cyrus—who shares kids Trace, 35, Miley, 31, Braison, 30, and Noah, 24, with ex Tish Cyrus—ended his romance with Firerose on May 22, per his divorce filing obtained by E! News June 11.

The 62-year-old cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reason for their split and requested an annulment, saying that “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud.”

The day after their breakup, Cyrus filed a temporary restraining order against her.

He alleged that Firerose spent $96,986 on 37 unauthorized charges on his business account in weeks leading up to the breakup, including payments of over $70,000 to her attorneys, per legal documents obtained by People.

However, Firerose’s lawyers labeled the accusation as “untrue” in a response to the filing.

“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage,” her lawyers wrote, per People. “Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

Eddie Murphy details the ‘surreal' experience of acting with real-life daughter in new ‘Beverly Hills Cop' film https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/eddie-murphy-details-the-surreal-experience-of-acting-with-real-life-daughter-in-new-beverly-hills-cop-film/5518813/ 5518813 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-99851256.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Eddie Murphy is revisiting one of his most famous roles with the help of someone pretty close to him.

Murphy returns as wisecracking police Detective Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F,” the fourth installment in the “Beverly Hills Cop” franchise, due to hit Netflix on July 3.

Murphy, who is the father of 10 kids, is joined in the movie by one of his real-life daughters, Bria, who makes a cameo playing a police officer.

“She’s the one that arrests me,” Murphy told Al Roker in an interview that aired June 18 on TODAY. “And the other scene when I get arrested in the movie, that’s my son-in-law tasing me in the neck. It was right after they got married. It was on the set, tasing me in my neck. I was like, ‘This is surreal.’”

Eddie Murphy’s daughter Bria plays a police officer who arrests Axel Foley in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” TODAY

Murphy is synonymous with Axel Foley, although he hasn’t played him since “Beverly Hills Cop III” 30 years ago. Returning to the role was a bit of a wake-up call for him.

“It felt like old man,” he said. “I did ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was 21. And I’m 63 now.”

The “Beverly Hills Cop” movies are known for their action, as much as their comedy, but Murphy said he’s not into doing stunts anymore.

“We were shooting something, and the director said, ‘I want you to come out of this place and run down those steps.’ And after we shot it, he was like, ‘Can you come down with more urgency and faster?’ And I was like, ‘No!’” he said while laughing.

“I was like, ‘I’m not doing anything action. Don’t call me unless you’re offering me the same type of (expletive) you would offer Morgan Freeman,’” he joked.

This fourth installment also features stars from the series, including John Ashton, Judge Reinhold, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot, while big names Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt also star.

Ashton returns as Taggart and Reinhold is back as Rosewood, the Beverly Hills cops who served as partners and came to appreciate Foley’s unorthodox ways. The movie also features a stakeout scene in a car, similar to the famous scene in the original film, where Foley sneaks into the back seat and laughs, while Rosewood and Taggart sit in the front.

“It was kind of like we were walking out of a book that they’d loved as a kid or something,” Reinhold said in an interview with Murphy and Ashton that aired on the 3rd hour of TODAY on June 18. “And Eddie got in the back, and the first thing — he looks at us, and he goes, ‘Well, at least we still resemble our characters.'”

Ashton said the chemistry with him, Reinhold and Murphy is as good as ever.

“I think that’s because we get along so well, you know?” he said. “We feed off of each other, and we trust each other.”

Murphy also said it was only right that the three of them team up again in this newest adventure.

“If we’re going to do ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ it was the only way it could happen was if all of us were in it,” he said.

Murphy rose to stardom on the big screen, in part, playing Foley in the original 1984 “Beverly Hills Cop” and followed it up with sequels in 1987 and 1994. For Murphy, playing Foley is a chance to portray someone people relate to.

“‘Beverly Hills Cop’ was my first movie that I’m the lead in. And if I travel overseas, they call me Axel Foley. To this (day), they’ll call me, ‘Alex Foley,’” he said.

“Axel is the everyman. He’s not a superhero or super cop. He’s the everyman that rises to the occasion. I think that’s why people like him. And, more than anything, he’s funny.”

As for his own kids, Murphy said they couldn’t care less about his fame.

“Not at all,” Murphy said about if his younger children are aware of his notoriety. “And the older ones don’t care.”

Murphy had once said he wanted to retire from movies at 50, but he’s still going strong.

“I think I will keep being a creative person ‘til the day I die,” he said.

As for the possibility Murphy will play Foley again, he says it’s an option.

“I hope so because this movie turned out so good, especially if you grew up watching the movie, then you’ll really, really love this new picture,” he said.

Ariana Grande addresses fans' shock over her voice change https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/ariana-grande-addresses-fans-shock-over-her-voice-change/5520279/ 5520279 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2074292147.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Ariana Grande is saying yes, and? to criticism about her voice.

The “thank u, next” singer recently surprised fans when she appeared to shift between two different registers accents during a June 12 appearance on Penn Badgley‘s Podcrushed podcast. And now she’s explaining exactly why that happens—with a lot of it stemming from the time she spent playing Glinda in the upcoming Wicked films.

“habit,” Grande wrote June 18 in the TikTok comments of a video calling out the change. “(speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health.”

She added, “I intentionally change my vocal placement (high /low) often depending on how much singing i’m doing. i’ve always done this BYE.”

In the original clip, the 30-year-old could be heard speaking in a deeper voice before shifting to a higher, softer octave while discussing her music.

And while some jokingly noted they could relate to the change, including a user who wrote, “Me when I have to use my customer service voice,” many fans quickly came to Grande’s defense.

“Yall acting like y’all’s voices don’t change in certain spaces and settings,” a fan noted, “her interview voice is no different, especially cause singers use to to preserve their vocals. don’t bring no dumb s–t over here.”

Another even assumed the change had to do with Wicked, saying, “Bet you she does this voice change to help ease into the operatic resonance she needs to use for when she sings Glinda s–t.”

And Grande herself has even touched on the changes she had to make to play the character, explaining that she worked with an acting coach and a voice coach every day to assist in her transition to Glinda.

“Everything about me, I had to deconstruct to prove to them I could handle taking on this other person,” Grande explained during a Feb. 26 appearance on The Zach Sang Show. “I had to completely erase popstar Ari, the person they know so well, because it’s even harder to believe someone as someone else when you’re so branded as one thing.”

She added, “I had to go all the way to strip that down, come into my callback with no makeup, my hair down, I looked like I was 11 years old.”

‘I had one martini': Justin Timberlake arrested for alleged DWI on Long Island https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/justin-timberlake-arrest-sag-harbor-long-island/5517507/ 5517507 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/timberlake-mug.png?fit=300,169&quality=85&strip=all

Justin Timberlake was arrested on Long Island’s Sag Harbor on a driving while intoxicated (DWI) charge after refusing three times to take a chemical test following his stop for rolling through a stop sign, according to a criminal complaint.

An officer observed that and trailed Timberlake, who was pulled over after failing twice to stay on the right side of the road shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday., the complaint says. The cop who stopped him says the so-dubbed “Prince of Pop” appeared to be drunk, with bloodshot, glassy eyes and a strong smell of alcohol on his breath.

“I had one martini and I followed my friends home,” Timberlake allegedly told officers.

Driving a grey BMW with Florida license plates, Timberlake initially failed to stop at the stop sign on Madison Street at Jermain Avenue, before having trouble staying on the right side of the lane several times on Madison, according to the complaint. Police said they saw him swerve twice before they pulled him over.

The complaint says Timberlake was unsteady and had slowed speech; he also allegedly performed poorly on field sobriety tests. They said he couldn’t focus on speaking to police while he was looking for his registration, either.

“A refusal can be introduced at trial to establish conscious evidence of guilt,” NBC News legal analyst Danny Cevallos said. “It is the predicate for a revocation of driving privileges.”

They also have the encounter on body and dash cameras, but the footage has not been released.

He was then taken to East Hampton Town police headquarters and held overnight ahead of his morning arraignment. Timberlake was released on his own recognizance after that hearing.

Timberlake pleaded not guilty in court and was ordered back on July 26, officials said.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s office had no further comment. Neither the singer nor his representatives could immediately be reached for comment.

Early Tuesday morning, Timberlake was leaving The American Hotel on Main Street, a popular spot in Sag Harbor.

“I know when I go out and party, me and my friends we get an Uber,” said Sag Harbor resident Tony Delpino. “We got a Lyft, because if we drink, we don’t take our cars. If you were gonna have a drink, I’m not getting in your car.”

“If you’re going to drink, don’t drive, especially for celebrities,” Sag Harbor resident Vanessa Leggard said. “They have the money to hire a driver. Why are you driving?”

The arrest comes amid Timberlake’s first world tour in nearly six years. The pop icon is scheduled to perform at Madison Square Garden in New York City next week on June 25 and 26.

Madison Square Garden Entertainment representatives deferred questions to Timberlake’s representatives.

Actor Ian McKellen, 85, is hospitalized after toppling off stage in London https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/ian-mckellen-hospitalized-after-toppling-off-stage-in-london/5515832/ 5515832 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/AP21047549110276.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,219 Actor Ian McKellen is expected to make a full recovery after he toppled off a London stage Monday during a fight scene and was hospitalized, a spokesperson said.

McKellen, 85, was in “good spirits” after doctors said a scan showed he was expected to fully recover from the fall, a spokesperson for the Noel Coward Theatre said.

The stage and screen veteran known for playing Gandalf in the “Lord of the Rings” films and many stage roles over a six decade career cried out in pain after the fall, according to a BBC journalist at the theater.

McKellen was playing John Falstaff in “Player Kings,” a production of Henry IV, parts one and two, adapted and directed by Robert Icke, at the Noel Coward Theatre.

He lost his footing and fell off the stage in a scene with the Prince of Wales and Henry Percy. The tumble startled theatergoers.

“Sir Ian seemed to trip as he moved downstage to take a more active part in the scene,” audience member Paul Critchley told the PA news agency, saying it was a shock. “He picked up momentum as he moved downstage which resulted in him falling off the stage directly in front of the audience.”

Staff and two doctors in the audience helped the ailing actor, the spokesperson said.

The theater was evacuated and the play was canceled. The production for Tuesday was also canceled to give McKellen time to rest.

McKellen’s career includes playing Magneto in the X-Men films and several Shakespearean characters including Richard II, Macbeth and King Lear.

He has won a Tony Award for “Amadeus,” several Laurence Olivier Awards and has been nominated for two Oscars and several BAFTA awards.

Céline Dion is feeling the power of love.

After all, the music icon’s son Rene-Charles Angelil was by her side at the New York City premiere of the “I Am: Celine Dion” documentary June 17.

For the red carpet occasion, Dion wore white silk blouse with a matching floor-length skirt, completing her look with a thin belt and silver jewelry. Meanwhile, her 23-year-old donned a classic black suit and white collared shirt, which he paired with a dark tie.

The “My Heart Will Go On” singer shares Rene-Charles — as well as 13-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy — with her late husband René Angélil, who passed away in 2016 after a battle with throat cancer.

Premiering globally on Amazon Prime Video June 25, “I Am: Celine Dion” centers around her health battle after being diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome in 2022. While the film will show how she navigated the neurological disorder, which causes muscle rigor and spasms, Dion also wanted to deliver a message to her children and her fans, who she credits with helping her pull through.

Céline Dion’s Sweet Moments With Her Kids

“For a long time — for so many years — I have felt the love and the support of my fans around the world,” the 56-year-old exclusively told E! News at the premiere. “They helped me to get where I am today.”

Though she was initially nervous to share her story, it all came to her Dion that she cannot let her condition silence her voice.

“Because I respect my fans, my family, my kids, myself,” the five-time Grammy winner continued, “they deserve to know.”

And more than anything, Dion hopes that her documentary will bring awareness to “the people who may feel that they’re alone” in their personal health struggles.

“I just hope that this will give them wings and strength to reach out,” she added, “and talk to people and say, ‘It’s worth it.'”

To catch more of Céline Dion’s interview, tune into E! News June 18 at 11 p.m.

Carrie Underwood and family safe after fire at Nashville home https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/carrie-underwood-and-family-safe-after-fire-at-nashville-home/5516222/ 5516222 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157530924.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Carrie Underwood is counting her blessings.

The “If I Didn’t Love You” singer and her family — including husband Mike Fisher and sons Isaiah, 9, and Jacob, 5 — are safe and sound following a structure fire at their Nashville home June 16, her rep confirmed to E! News June 17.

According to the Williamson County Fire and Rescue, they were called in at 9:42 p.m. to put out the fire, with all eight of their stations responding. And they were also able to provide an explanation for the cause in a June 17 press release, stating, “The homeowner reported that a UTV was on fire next to the garage.”

“All occupants in the home were able to escape unharmed,” the press release continued. “No injuries were sustained by the occupants or firefighters on scene.”

Authorities also said they were able to quickly and efficiently extinguish the flames thanks to a “10,000 gallon reservoir on the property.”

Carrie Underwood Through the Years

A spokesperson for Underwood and her family confirmed the fire was “quickly contained” at their property on Sunday.

“There was no fire damage to the primary residence,” the rep told E!, “and the family and their pets were unharmed.”

Underwood — who married Fisher in 2010 — has previously spoken about how important it is for her to have a strong home base to stay connected with her children during her performance schedule.

“We have so many meals together as a family,” the 41-year-old explained on TODAY in September. “It’s not a rule, it’s just what we do. I love it.”

And the “American Idol” alum appreciates how special their home is for her children, noting, “I want them to remember that.”

Usher just revealed he doesn't eat on Wednesdays https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/usher-just-revealed-he-doesnt-eat-on-wednesdays/5515778/ 5515778 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-1996272527.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Finally, we know how Usher maintains those famous abs.

The 45-year-old spoke about his health regimen in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.

Speaking to the outlet, the “Yeah!” singer detailed how his typical routine starts by passing on coffee and reaching for celery juice instead and the ways he prioritizes mental and physical activity. One noteworthy aspect of Usher’s regimen is his weekly fast, something he adopted from his grandmother.

Read on for everything the singer’s said about his wellness habits.

Yoga is a must in the morning

Usher begins each day with intentionality, setting out to wake up early and getting into a reflective and relaxed mindset.

“I try to wake up early enough to have a moment of reflection. Some days I may grab a book and read to stimulate my mind,” he said.

“I may sit quietly and meditate. One thing that is a frequent practice is yoga. It really does help to activate my organs and get my mind moving in the right direction — as Tony Robbins would say, ‘make my move,’ you know what I mean?”

He doesn’t drink coffee

“It all depends on how I ended my night before. Sometimes a coffee martini is appropriate,” he said. “No, typically, I wake up and drink celery juice. I’ve been doing this concoction of lemon, ginger, water and cayenne pepper. I drink it hot.”

He has a go-to breakfast

The singer typically opts for eggs for breakfast, which he usually sits down for after a workout.

“I sometimes eat eggs scrambled with cheese,” he said. “For the most part, I like them poached or over easy. But I don’t like to eat breakfast before I’ve worked out or done something physical: taking a walk, stretching or doing yoga, sitting in the sun and raising my body’s natural heat levels. Then I eat.”

He fasts one day a week

The singer fasts every week. He begins the night before and makes sure he hydrates throughout his fast day.

“I fast, not for religious purposes, but it’s something my grandmother practiced,” he explained. “I fast on Wednesdays. I typically try to start around 11 p.m. the previous day, then go the entire day on Wednesday just drinking water. “

He doesn’t do much weightlifting

Usher explained that his workouts tend to focus on strengthening his knees due to a previous injury.

“Normally, my workout regimen starts either walking or with certain knee activations and reverse walking that I do to really engage my quads, my knees and glutes,” he said.

“I’ve had minor surgeries on my knee, I had a torn meniscus. Other than that, swimming is a really good thing to get me going, and bike riding. Weight lifting, don’t do a lot of that.”

Reggaeton singer Don Omar reveals he has cancer ahead of additional tour dates https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/reggaeton-singer-don-omar-cancer-additional-tour-dates/5515738/ 5515738 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/DON-OMAR.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Reggaeton star Don Omar revealed he has cancer in an Instagram post on Monday with a photo of what appears to be him wearing a hospital bracelet.

The Puerto Rican singer captioned the post in Spanish, saying that “tomorrow” he will be cancer free. There were no additional details on his diagnosis or treatment.

“Good intentions are well received,” he wrote, according to the translation. “See you all soon.”

The post comes only hours after Omar posted a video of him auditioning dancers for the second leg of his “Back to Reggaeton” tour. New shows resume in August, starting with a stop in Oakland, California.

Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera, rose to popularity in the early 2000s. He has released eight studio albums since 2003 and has won two Latin Grammy awards out of 13 nominations.

He also spent many years famously feuding with fellow singer Daddy Yankee, despite collaborating and touring together early in their careers. The two men posted that they buried the hatchet in separate Instagram posts in December, according to Billboard.

“I wish you the best for you and your family,” Omar wrote. “Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline but even more thank you for what you did for our music.”

Hiram Kasten, comedian and ‘Seinfeld' regular, dies at 71 https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/hiram-kasten-comedian-and-seinfeld-regular-dies-at-71/5515508/ 5515508 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-186152597.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Actor Hiram Kasten, who made his mark in stand-up comedy and network TV shows like “Seinfeld,” died in western New York after a prolonged illness, his family said Sunday.

Kasten was 71 when he passed away in Batavia, outside of Buffalo, according to a statement posted on his Facebook page.

“Hiram Kasten loved show business and lived his dream of being in show business,” the family said in a statement announcing his death.

Kasten’s cause of death was not disclosed but the family said he’d been “fighting through a multitude of illnesses” in the past seven years, “including prostate cancer.”

In the past six months, Kasten had been been telling friends he was terminally ill.

“His great comedy and artistic community rallied to his side,” his family said. “Some made trips to Batavia to visit him, late night Zoom meetings with friends on both coasts ensued and went into the wee hours of the morning.”

Kasten, a Bronx native and lifelong Yankees fan, was a mainstay in New York City’s comedy scene throughout the 1980s playing in clubs such as The Comic Strip and Comedy Cellar.

He loved the craft of comedy and would regularly work marathon weekends, doing gigs in far away spots like New Jersey and Staten Island before rushing back to Manhattan for late-night sets.

“It was a big deal to have a show outside of town and then two or three spots in town on the weekend,” according to the Facebook statement. “One could actually make a living, and he did!”

Kasten eventually moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting and worked steadily throughout the 90s and early 2000s with credits on “7th Heaven,” “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Mad About You,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “L.A.Law,” “Seinfeld” and “It’s Like, You Know…”

His “Seinfeld” work came in three episodes in 1993-94 playing a co-worker of Elaine Benes, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Kasten and his wife, Diana Kastenbaum moved to Batavia in 2012 so she could be close to her aging father. She ran for Congress in 2016.

Kasten is survived by his wife and their daughter, Millicent Jade Kastenbaum.

Billy Ray Cyrus files temporary restraining order against ex Firerose https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/billy-ray-cyrus-files-temporary-restraining-order-against-ex-firerose/5519324/ 5519324 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-1634727374.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=200,300 Originally appeared on E! Billy Ray Cyrus wants to keep his achy breaky heart far from Johanna “Firerose” Rose Hodges.

The “Old Town Road” singer filed for a temporary restraining order against his estranged wife amid their divorce battle after seven months of marriage, according to court documents obtained by E! News.

Cyrus — who initiated divorce proceedings late last month, citing irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital conduct” — electronically filed the order on May 23.

The 62-year-old alleged that in recent weeks, Hodges spent $96,986 on 37 unauthorized charges on his business account, including $70,665 in payments to her attorneys, according to additional documents obtained by People.

“As a result of these fraudulent charges,” Cyrus wrote in his affidavit, according to the outlet, “I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts.”

Meanwhile, the 36-year-old’s attorneys rebuked the “Hannah Montana” alum’s statements.

“To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue,” her attorneys wrote in the response filing, the publication reported. “Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”

In the court documents, Cyrus — who tied the knot with Hodges in November—requested an annulment because he alleged that “he gave consent to marriage based on Fraud by the Wife” and added that if “he known he would not have entered into the bonds of matrimony.”

E! News has reached out to Hodges’ attorneys for comment and has not heard back. Cyrus’ reps have declined to comment.

The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer’s split comes two years after ex-wife Tish Cyrus filed for divorce. In April 2022, she cited “irreconcilable differences” and noted that the duo hadn’t lived together since February 2020.

Tish Cyrus and Cyrus — who are parents to Miley Cyrus, 29; Braison Cyrus, 27; Noah Cyrus, 22; and Brandi Cyrus, 34; and Trace Cyrus, 33, from her previous marriage to Baxter Neal Helson — were married for 30 years and filed three times since 2010.

Why Molly Ringwald, Judd Nelson don't appear in Andrew McCarthy's ‘Brats' documentary https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/molly-ringwald-judd-nelson-not-in-andrew-mccarthy-brats-documentary/5514756/ 5514756 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2156404941.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 Molly Ringwald may have been one of the biggest stars of the Brat Pack era, but she doesn’t appear in Andrew McCarthy’s new Hulu documentary “Brats.”

Both Ringwald and her “The Breakfast Club” co-star Judd Nelson turned down requests to appear in the documentary, McCarthy told “Entertainment Tonight.”

“I mean, they both are in the film in a sense that there’s a lot of clips and interviews and things,” said the actor and director, who played Ringwald’s love interest in the teen rom-com “Pretty in Pink.”

Nevertheless, “the Brat Pack is an ongoing relationship,” he said.

“Some people are at different places in their lives to want to or not want to talk about it. I think that just informs it even more. I mean, that’s my takeaway from it,” he said.

Ringwald and Nelson show up in archival footage in “Brats” with Nelson making a last-minute phone call to McCarthy at the end of the film.

Meanwhile, Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Jon Cryer and other actors who found fame as teens and 20-somethings in the 1980s join McCarthy on screen to hash out the era’s lasting impact.

“I was surprised as many people would want to speak to me (that) did, you know, because I thought the biggest challenge would be to get people to participate,” McCarthy told “ET.” “I knew it was still so sort of dodgy in some people’s lives.”

The term “Brat Pack” was coined by New York reporter David Blum for a June 1985 cover story about the slew of hot young movie stars taking over Hollywood.

The nickname was a riff on the Rat Pack, the iconic group of hard-partying entertainers, including Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., who were the toast of Hollywood and Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s.

In the documentary, McCarthy, who also appeared alongside Lowe, Moore, Estevez, Sheedy and Nelson in the hit 1985 drama “St. Elmo’s Fire,” said the Brat Pack moniker “affected my life massively.”

McCarthy gets no argument from Estevez, who says the derogatory-sounding label all but assured that none of the actors would ever appear onscreen together again.

“We were kryptonite to each other,” Estevez says.

While all the actors agree that the Brat Pack label implied they didn’t take their craft seriously, Moore and Lowe seem to have been better able to shrug it off.

“I look at everything as happening for us, not to us,” Moore says in the film while Lowe appears thrilled to reminisce about an era in which the young stars “could have” filled Shea Stadium.

The documentary features much more than just handwringing about labels. It’s also jam-packed with anecdotes about the actors’ young lives and careers.

Moore reveals that she was struggling with addiction during the filming of “St. Elmo’s Fire” and was assigned a sober companion 24 hours a day.

McCarthy tells Sheedy that he had a crush on her when they were young, and later he and Lowe joyfully recall how they were taken to Sammy Davis Jr.’s house one night by Liza Minnelli.

McCarthy also addresses the odd state of his hair during the final scene of “Pretty in Pink,” revealing it was a wig.

Turns out, test audiences hated the film’s original ending, which showed Andie (Ringwald) at the prom with her bestie Duckie (Cryer). So McCarthy, who by then had shaved his head to portray a Marine in a play, was called back to shoot a new ending.

“It just sat on my head like some bird’s nest,” McCarthy says of the terrible hairpiece. “If they’d known that we’d still be talking about it 35 years later, they would’ve paid for a better wig.”

‘The Sopranos' cast reunites for 25th anniversary, tearfully reflects on James Gandolfini https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/the-sopranos-cast-reunites-for-25th-anniversary-tearfully-reflects-on-james-gandolfini/5514780/ 5514780 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/240617-sopranos-getty.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,169 It’s been 25 years since “The Sopranos” debuted and the show’s influence continues to be felt, with many citing it as the greatest TV show ever made. Several of the show’s stars, along with series creator David Chase, recently sat down with TODAY’s Tom Llamas to discuss the drama’s enduring legacy at the Tribeca Film Festival, where the documentary “Wise Guy: David Chase and the Sopranos” premiered.

“The Sopranos” remains a show people love to talk about all these years later, prompting Llamas to ask why that is the case.

“Why? Because the writing was incredible. Because of streaming, it’s all over the world. More people watch ‘The Sopranos’ now than watched it when it was on originally,” said Steve Schirripa, who played Tony Soprano’s brother-in-law Bobby Baccalieri.

The Sopranos cast sitting together

“The Sopranos,” of course, captured fans’ imagination, with its depiction of Tony Soprano, a mobster, played by the late James Gandolfini, trying to juggle his personal and professional lives. Chase said Gandolfini, who won three Emmy Awards for his work on the show, was the perfect person for the part.

“They loved him because Jim had some magic in him, but you saw this damaged heart or something in that character,” he said.

“The Sopranos” ran for 86 episodes across six seasons between 1999 and 2007 and won 21 Emmy Awards.

"The Sopranos" actors posing
Actors from left: Tony Sirico, Steven Van Zandt, James Gandolfini, Michael Imperioli and Vincent Pastore in a publicity still for TV series “The Sopranos,” circa 1999.

Schirripa, who joined the show in its second season, says it was a dream to work with the likes of Gandolfini and Dominic Chianese, who played boss Junior Soprano.

“Well, it’s like an out-of-body experience. I’m saying, ‘I just watched these guys last week. Now I’m here in Jim’s trailer studying lines with Dominic and Jim.’ And it was like, ‘Am I really here? How did I get here?’” he said.

Drea de Matteo, who won an Emmy for playing Adriana, and Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who starred as Tony’s daughter, Meadow, didn’t even realize what they were auditioning for, thinking the show’s title meant it was about opera.

“For the pilot, everyone said, ‘Clean slate. Hair in a ponytail. You know, always look very basic.’ And when I got there, I was like, ‘This is about Italians,’” de Matteo said.

“All the information I was given was a 16-year-old Italian-looking girl for a show called ‘Sopranos.’ I come from a musical theater background, so I was stoked thinking it was going to be singing for television,” Sigler recalled. “So I think I remember kind of looking around, noticing there’s no accompanist or — so should I sing a cappella? And I remember David telling me that was not necessary.”

The bond from the show runs deep for the cast.

“It’s hard to remember a life for me before these people,” said Robert Iler, who played Tony’s son, A.J.

Since the show signed off, it’s endured crushing losses. Gandolfini died in 2013, and Tony Sirico, who played “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri, died in 2022.

“He was a very loyal guy. Tony and Paulie are one, and they broke the mold when they made Tony Sirico. He was a wonderful guy,” Schirripa said about Sirico.

Gandolfini’s death sent shock waves among fans, with his former co-stars gushing about him. Sigler got emotional when trying to articulate the impact he had on her life.

“I felt protected by him and loved by him. And he really was one of a kind, and I feel very lucky to have been guided by him for as long as I was,” she said.

“As great an actor as he was, he was an even better guy,” Schirripa said.

“The Sopranos” continues to delight audiences more than a quarter of a century after it debuted. Chase said a lot of the credit lies with the people who brought the characters to life.

“Listening to all this and you asking these questions, it’s bringing back all these scenes with these amazing people, amazing actors,” he said. “They were all so good.”

Angelina Jolie and daughter Vivienne shut down Tony Awards red carpet https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/angelina-jolie-and-daughter-vivienne-shut-down-tony-awards-red-carpet/5513073/ 5513073 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157875648.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Originally appeared on E! Angelina Jolie and her daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt just made an award-worthy entrance at the 2024 Tonys.

The actress — who acts as a producer on Broadway’s “The Outsiders” — was joined by her and ex Brad Pitt‘s 15-year-old on the red carpet at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater in New York City.

For the event, Jolie — a Tonys presenter — wore a strapless, teal, draped, Grecian-style velvet gown with a matching shawl, while Vivienne (credited as a producer assistant on “The Outsiders”) matched with a white button-down shirt and teal vest and teal pants.

As for how the mom to Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and Vivienne’s twin Knox, 15, got involved in the Broadway production, which received 12 Tony nominations?

“My daughter Viv loves theater,” Jolie shared with Deadline in an interview published June 10. “She appreciates all theater but she certainly knows what she feels close to and what she responds to.”

As the 49-year-old explained, Vivienne “went to see ‘The Outsiders’ at La Jolla about five times and was telling me about it, and I had read the book, and I’d seen the film years ago.”

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Kids Through the Years

Thanks to the teen’s influence, Jolie decided to get involved and, in turn, learned more about her daughter.

“It was a very different experience of understanding, of how this is having a significant effect on her as a young person right now, and she’s communicating something to me, and that is the power of this material,” the “Eternals” actress added. “And then I had the privilege of watching everyone work over this last year to make it into what it is, and Vivienne has been there the whole way.”

While her brood tends to stay out of the spotlight, Jolie has offered up rare insight into their lives here and there.

“Viv reminds me of my mother,” Jolie, referencing her late mom Marcheline Bertrand, told E! News in August, “in that she isn’t focused on being the center of attention but in being a support to other creatives.”

“She’s very thoughtful and serious about theatre,” the “Maleficent” star continued, “and working hard to best understand how to contribute.”

An emotional win for theaters, Hollywood: ‘Inside Out 2' scores massive $155 million opening https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/inside-out-2-box-office-155-million-opening/5513040/ 5513040 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157521900-e1718586989379.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Hollywood’s summer movie anxieties gave way to joy this weekend with the massive debut of Disney and Pixar’s “ Inside Out 2.” The animated sequel earned $155 million in ticket sales from 4,440 theaters in the U.S. and Canada, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Not only is it the second-highest opening weekend in Pixar’s 29 years of making films and the second-biggest animated opening ever (behind only the $182.7 million launch of “Incredibles 2” in 2018); It’s also the biggest of 2024, and since “Barbie.” With an estimated $140 million from international showings, “Inside Out 2” had a staggering, and record-breaking, $295 million global start.

Tony Chambers, who heads theatrical distribution for Disney, was confident that the film would do “extremely well.” But even he was surprised at how much it exceeded already high expectations.

“People go to the theaters for great movies,” Chambers said. “The reviews, the word of mouth just helped build this momentum … It’s becoming a bit of a phenomenon.”

Importantly, “Inside Out 2” audiences spanned ages and all demographics. Post-COVID, he said, breakout successes depend on attracting multicultural audiences.

The success is significant for Pixar, marking a much-needed return to form for a studio that has had a string of underwhelming launches including “ Elemental,” which did eventually become a success, and “ Lightyear,” which didn’t. It’s also vitally important for the greater Hollywood ecosystem and the health of theatrical exhibition, which had been running at a 26% deficit.

“Everybody needed this because success begets success,” said Chambers, who has been getting excited calls from exhibitors and fellow studios alike. “It’s great for the industry, great for Pixar and great for the business overall.”

Disney was already having a good summer, with “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” which this weekend was in third place in its sixth weekend with $5.2 million (bringing its global total to $374.5 million). And next up is “ Deadpool & Wolverine ” (July 26).

Kelsey Mann directed “Inside Out 2,” which picks up with Riley as she turns 13. That means the arrival of new emotions like Anxiety (Maya Hawke) and Envy ( Ayo Edebiri ) to Joy’s (Amy Poehler) party. It got glowing reviews from critics (92% on Rotten Tomatoes) and polled audiences who gave it an A CinemaScore, suggesting that this won’t be a first-weekend wonder. With kids out of school and an open market until “Despicable Me 4” enters the ring over the Fourth of July, “Inside Out 2” is just getting started.

“This is a monumental weekend for movie theaters,” said Paul Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore.

“Inside Out 2” is estimated to have cost around $200 million to produce, which does not account for the millions spent on marketing. Going into the weekend, it was tracking for a debut in the $90 million range, which would have been in line with “Inside Out’s” first weekend in June 2019. Even that would have been considered a terrific achievement, and enough to claim the biggest opening of the year — finally unseating March releases like “ Dune: Part Two ” and “ Godzilla x Kong.”

“For the entire industry that works for theatrical, this is a huge turning point for 2024,” said Daniel Loria of Boxoffice Pro. “This is the sort of weekend we’ve been waiting for.”

As the only major release of the weekend, its theatrical footprint was equally impressive playing on 400 IMAX screens, over 900 “premium large format” screens and over 2,500 3D screens.

This recommitment to theatrical comes after Disney sent several Pixar films straight to its streaming service, Disney+, over the pandemic including “Soul,” “Luca” and “Turning Red.” Last month, the New York Times reported that Pixar had decided to return its focus to feature films (and not producing shows for Disney+) and that it had laid off 14% of its workforce (about 175 employees).

“As important as this weekend is for the industry at large, for Pixar this is huge. They’ve been trying to get their groove back since the pandemic,” Dergarabedian said. “They’ve really come back big.”

Second place went to Sony’s “ Bad Boys: Ride or Die, ” now in its second weekend with $33 million, down only 42% from its opening. In just 12 days, it’s already earned over $112 million domestically and $214 million globally. As of Friday, the four-film franchise had crossed the $1 billion mark.

“Bad Boys’” success last weekend was the start of a higher-earning turnaround for the lagging summer movie season. For Hollywood, the summer season, which runs from the first weekend in May through Labor Day, usually represents about 40% of the yearly box office. The deficit is still significant, with ticket sales down 28% for the summer and 24% for the year (and this is still before “Barbenheimer”) but it’s progress in a more promising direction nonetheless.

“We’re not going to get there overnight,” Dergarabedian said. “But it’s good news for theaters. And we have some big movies on the way.”

On the ground, theater owners saw their cineplexes come to life this weekend.

“It has been magical,” said Jeff Whipple, a vice president for Megaplex Theaters. “We have seen literally generations of families brought together for this movie.”

Megaplex Theaters operates 15 locations and 173 screens in Utah and Southern Nevada. And the energy was palpable, Whipple said. Not only have families been hanging around after the showtimes to discuss the film; They’ve also been scoping out what’s coming next with kids taking pictures of the “Despicable Me 4” posters and displays and dads taking note of the “Deadpool & Wolverine” date.

“I think word is going to spread on this film and help draw people into theaters throughout the summer,” Whipple said.

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore. Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

1. “Inside Out 2,” $155 million.

2. “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” $33 million.

3. “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” $5.2 million.

4. “The Garfield Movie,” $5 million.

5. “The Watchers,” $3.7 million.

6. “IF,” $3.5 million.

7. “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” $2.4 million.

8. “The Fall Guy,” $1.5 million.

9. “The Strangers: Chapter 1,” $760,000.

10. “Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” $632,910.

Kate Middleton captures Prince William and kids at beach for touching Father's Day tribute https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/kate-middleton-captures-prince-william-and-kids-at-beach-for-touching-fathers-day-tribute/5512940/ 5512940 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2157743646.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,206 Prince William received a special message from his children for Father’s Day this year.

To mark the holiday on June 16, the official Instagram account for the Prince and Princess of Wales shared a photo of Prince William with his three children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6.

The photo, which was taken by Catherine, Princess of Wales, in Norfolk last month, featured William posing on the beach with George, Charlotte, and Louis. In the sweet snap, the family had their backs to the camera and put their arms around one another.

In the caption, the post shared a message from George, Charlotte, and Louis for their father, which read, “We love you, Papa. Happy Father’s Day.”

Kensington Palace confirmed that this is the first time a message from the children has been posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ social channels.

William also celebrated his own father on the holiday, marking the occasion with a post dedicated to King Charles III.

On Instagram, William shared a throwback photo from his childhood with his dad. In the snap taken, a young William donned a striped shirt and a pair of overalls while his dad wore a gray suit. The father-son duo were outside in the snap, with Charles appearing to kick a ball toward his smiling son.

“Happy Father’s Day, Pa,” the caption read, signed off with William’s initial.

Ahead of Father’s Day, the royal family was reunited at Trooping the Colour on June 15 amid the former Kate Middleton and Charles’ health issues. In February, it was announced that the king was diagnosed with cancer, while Kate revealed her own cancer diagnosis in March after undergoing abdominal surgery earlier in the year.

Kate made her return to the public eye at the annual event, which marked the king’s birthday, and rode in a carriage with her children. She also appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace alongside William and their children, as well as Charles and his wife, Queen Camilla.

The day before the event, Kate gave a rare update about her health in a public statement, sharing that she was making “good progress” with her chemotherapy treatment.

In the statement, she wrote in part that she was looking forward to attending the parade with her family and had plans to “join a few public engagements over the summer,” but knew she was “not out of the woods yet.”

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal,” she added.

‘The Outsiders' wins best musical and ‘Stereophonic' best play as women make strides at Tony Awards https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/in-the-wings/2024-tony-awards-broadway-winners/5511652/ 5511652 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/AP24164448468562.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 “The Outsiders,” a gritty adaptation of the classic young adult novel, became the essence of a Broadway insider on Sunday, winning the Tony Award for best new musical on a night when women made strides.

The musical based on the beloved S. E. Hinton book is about rival gangs of haves and have-nots in 1960s Oklahoma. The win meant Angelina Jolie, a producer, landed her first Tony, too.

Producer Matthew Rego, in his acceptance speech, thanked Hinton, in the audience at Manhattan’s Lincoln Center: “Susie, I’m here to tell you that your story and its eternal message of love and family and staying gold has forever changed all of our lives.”

“Stereophonic,” the play about a Fleetwood Mac-like band recording an album over a turbulent and life-changing year, won best new play and had the night’s most total awards at five. It was written by David Adjmi, with songs by former Arcade Fire member Will Butler.

“Oh, no. My agent gave me a beta blocker, but it’s not working,” Adjmi said. He added the play took 11 years to manifest.

“This was a very hard journey to get up here,” he said. “We need to fund the arts in America.”

Two special guests electrified the crowd — Jay-Z and Hillary Rodham Clinton. The latter, a producer of a musical about suffragettes, presented “Suffs.”

“I have stood on a lot of stages, but this is very special,” Clinton said. “I know a little bit about how hard it is to make change.”

In the first musical presentation, Alicia Keys appeared at a piano as the cast of her semi-autobiographical musical, “Hell’s Kitchen,” presented a medley of songs. She sang her and Jay-Z’s 2009 smash “Empire State of Mind,” joining the rapper on interior steps to wild applause.

Later, newcomer Maleah Joi Moon won best leading actress for “Hell’s Kitchen,” brushing aside a challenge from veteran Kelli O’Hara. The 21-year-old, who plays a role loosely based on Keys’ life, dedicated her award to her parents.

Danya Taymor — whose aunt is Julie Taymor, the first woman to win a Tony Award for directing a musical — became the sixth woman to win the same award for “The Outsiders.”

Then Shaina Taub, only the second woman in Broadway history to write, compose and star in a Broadway musical, won for best score, the ninth woman to do so. The “Suffs” creator had already won for best book earlier in the night.

“If you are inspired by the story of ‘Suffs,’ please make sure you and everyone you know have registered to vote and vote, vote, vote!” she said. Taub said the win was for all the loud girls out there: “Go for it.”

Jeremy Strong took home the first big award of the night. The “Succession” star landed his first Tony for his work in the revival of Henrik Ibsen’s 1882 political play “An Enemy of the People.” The award for best lead actor in a play will sit next to his Emmy, Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe.

Kara Young, the first Black performer to be nominated for a Tony three consecutive years in a row, won this time as best featured actress in a play for “Purlie Victorious,” the story of a Black preacher’s plan to reclaim his inheritance and win back his church from a plantation owner.

“Thank you to my ancestors,” she said, giving thanks to a list that included playwright Ossie Davis and co-star Ruby Dee, who originated her role.

“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe cemented his stage career pivot by winning featured actor in a musical, his first trophy in five Broadway shows. He won for the revival of “Merrily We Roll Along,” the Stephen Sondheim- George Furth musical that goes backward in time.

“This is one of the best experiences of my life,” Radcliffe said. “I will never have it as good again.” He also thanked his parents for playing Sondheim in the car growing up.

“Merrily” was also named best musical revival and earned Jonathan Groff his first Tony, for leading actor in a musical. Groff — previously nominated for “Spring Awakening” and “Hamilton” — thanked co-stars Lindsay Mendez and Radcliffe, both emotional in the audience.

Groff, who said he used to watch the Tonys in Pennsylvania as a kid, also thanked his parents and brother for letting him act out scenes from “I Love Lucy” as a child.

“Thank you for always allowing my freak flag to fly without ever making me feel weird about it,” he said.

Kecia Lewis, who plays a formidable piano teacher in “Hell’s Kitchen,” took home her first Tony, too. The 40-year veteran made her Broadway debut at 18 in the original company of “Dreamgirls.”

“This moment is the one I dreamed of for those 40 years,” she said. “Don’t give up!”

“Appropriate,” Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ show centered on a family reunion in Arkansas, was named best play revival. Jacobs-Jenkins also thanked Davis, saying there would be no “Appropriate” without “Purlie Victorious.”

“Appropriate” star Sarah Paulson added a best leading actress in a play Tony to her awards cabinet. Paulson said she was thrilled to be able to interrogate the human condition: “This is the heart and soul of what we do and I am so honored to be amongst you.”

Three-time Tony-honored Chita Rivera got a special tribute from Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell and Bebe Neuwirth. Images of her work in “Chicago,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “West Side Story” were projected while dancers performed her hit numbers. Host Ariana DeBose, who won an Oscar in Rivera’s “West Side Story” role of Anita, joined in.

DeBose, a three-time host, also co-choreographed the opening original number, “This Party’s for You.” The song cheered those who sacrifice for their art and took a gentle swipe at other entertainment types: “You’ll learn that film and TV can make you rich and make you famous. But theater will make you better.”

The performances also included an intense, creepy version of “Willkommen” from the “Cabaret” revival led by Eddie Redmayne, Pete Townshend playing guitar for “The Who’s Tommy” and a messy rumble from “The Outsiders” that included falling water, buckets of dirt, various carpets and an onstage truck.

The telecast teased upcoming shows, inviting Nicole Scherzinger — slated to star in a “Sunset Boulevard” revival — to sing the “In Memoriam” section. Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren — announced today as stars of 2025’s “The Last Five Years” — presented.

Scherzinger sang “What I Did for Love” as the names appeared, including playwright Christopher Durang and actors Alan Arkin,Glenda Jackson,Louis Gossett Jr., and Treat Williams.

Sean ‘Diddy' Combs returns key to New York City in response to video of him attacking singer Cassie https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/sean-diddy-returns-key-to-new-york-city/5511280/ 5511280 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2023/09/AP23258656873446.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Sean “ Diddy ” Combs has returned his key to New York City after a request from Mayor Eric Adams in response to the release of a video showing the music mogul attacking R&B singer Cassie, officials said Saturday.

The mayor’s office said Combs returned the key after Adams sent letters to the embattled musician’s offices in New York and California on June 4 rescinding the key and asking for it to be sent back to City Hall. The city received the key June 10.

In his letter, Adams wrote he was “deeply disturbed” by the attack, adding “I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence.”

Combs’ career has been derailed by numerous accusations of sexual abuse, as well as a federal criminal sex-trafficking investigation that led to raids of Combs’ mansions in Los Angeles and Miami.

In May, CNN aired security video of Combs attacking Cassie in a hotel hallway in Los Angeles in 2016. Combs has said he is “truly sorry” for the attack on Cassie and called his actions “inexcusable.” Cassie, whose legal name is Cassandra Ventura, sued Combs last year, setting off a wave of increased scrutiny on Combs. That case was settled a day after it was filed.

Adams awarded Combs with the key at a ceremony last year that coincided with the release of a new album.

Howard University this month rescinded an honorary degree awarded to Combs and ended a scholarship program in his name following the release of the video involving Cassie.

Combs, founder of Bad Boy Records, is one of the most influential hip-hop producers and executives in the last three decades, turning musical success into a business empire.

An email sent to a representative listed online for Combs was not immediately returned.

Reese Witherspoon's impression of Nicole Kidman at an award gala is spot-on https://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/reese-witherspoons-impression-of-nicole-kidman-at-an-award-gala-is-spot-on/5511174/ 5511174 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-2150501791.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Reese Witherspoon showed her admiration for longtime pal Nicole Kidman by doing a spot-on impression of the Aussie actor at the 49th AFI Life Achievement Award gala in Hollywood in April.

TNT posted a video on X on June 14 that showed Witherspoon giving a speech about her “Big Little Lies” co-star and co-producer, who was honored for her contribution to film at the event. TNT will air the American Film Institute’s tribute to Kidman on June 17.

While at the microphone, Witherspoon imitated Kidman talking enthusiastically about film directors.

“(Kidman) will often say to me of a foreign film I’ve absolutely never heard of — like, y’all, I mean, it’s out there — and she’s like, ‘But do you see that director?’” Witherspoon said, adopting Kidman’s Australian accent.

The “Legally Blonde” franchise star paused as audience members, including Kidman, laughed at her impression.

“‘I mean, it’s incredible,'” Witherspoon continued, still in character as Kidman. “‘Reese, we must get her. We must.'”

TNT wrote in its caption, “Reese Witherspoon does one hell of Nicole Kidman impression.” (TNT also recently shared Meryl Streep impersonating Kidman at the same event.)

Fans on X were also impressed.

“OK Reese, this is scary good,” wrote one user who retweeted the video.

“Wth this is such a good Nicole impression,” wrote another.

Witherspoon and Kidman have been close friends for many years.

“Our paths consistently cross, and that’s one of the things I love about us. We started working together and we went, ‘Okay, from this point on, it’s a lifetime,’” Kidman said of the duo’s bond in a conversation published this month in Vanity Fair.

The two often joke that they will wind up being “old ladies on a porch” singing Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” together, Witherspoon said.

“We were on vacation once and they started playing the music and we got up and sang. We couldn’t remember it,” Witherspoon recalled. “I’m like, ‘Come on,’ We couldn’t remember any of the words. Stevie Nicks would be horrified.”

The pair also confirmed that “Big Little Lies” will return for a third season with author Liane Moriarty, whose 2014 novel of the same name inspired the series, back in the fold.

“We’re moving fast and furious. … We’re in good shape,” said Kidman.

91 Father's Day jokes that prove you inherited Dad's sense of humor https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/national-international/91-fathers-day-jokes-that-prove-you-inherited-dads-sense-of-humor/5510834/ 5510834 post https://media.nbcnewyork.com/2024/06/GettyImages-983431494.jpg?quality=85&strip=all&fit=300,200 Have you ever wondered when a joke becomes a dad joke? When the punchline is apparent. Ba-dum-tss.

How about the father who bought a pair of camouflage pants? Now no one can find him.

Speaking of parents, Father’s Day is the perfect time to let the dad, husband or grandfather in your life know just how much they mean to you with a thoughtful gift or, better yet, by telling him one of these funny Father’s Day jokes.

Whatever Father’s Day activities you’ve got planned can only be improved upon by adding a few chuckles to the mix.

Not only will you make dear ol’ dad smile, but you’ll also be providing new material for his one-man comedy show. Because while he’s got plenty of his own funny gags, one can never have too many.

Of course, you still need to pick up a present or a greeting card with a thoughtful message written inside. It’s Father’s Day after all, and you can’t let Sunday slip by without letting that special guy know just how much you love and appreciate all he’s done for you.

In the end, however, it’s laughter that’s the real gift, and you’ll find everything you need right here to provide a belly laugh or two.

Prince Louis was Prince Charming at the Trooping the Colour parade.

The 6-year-old showcased his adorable personality alongside his family June 15 at the annual royal event, which marked his mom Kate Middleton‘s first official appearance since revealing her cancer diagnosis in March.

Standing with his mother, dad Prince William, siblings Prince George, 10, and Princess Charlotte, 9, grandfather King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla on a Buckingham Palace balcony, Louis showcased his dance moves while watching the springtime military parade and flypast celebrating the monarch’s birthday, prompting his sister to appear to tell him to stop.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ youngest son was also seen yawning while watching the proceedings, bringing to mind a similar candid moment from Charles’ coronation in 2023.

“A memorable day at The King’s Birthday Parade,” the Prince and Princess of Wales said on Instagram after Trooping the Colour concluded. “From the Irish Guards Trooping their colour to seeing so many faces on the Mall, thank you for making it a day to remember.”

Princess Kate, who last took part in a public royal engagement last Christmas, announced her intent to attend the Trooping the Colour parade June 14, one week after apologizing in a letter to the Irish Guards — of which she serves in the ceremonial role of Colonel — for missing a key rehearsal for the military event.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family,” the princess wrote in an Instagram post, “and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

She also gave an update on her health battle. “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days,” the princess said. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

She said her “treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months,” later adding, “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”
